    摘要: This invention presents a method and an apparatus for examining and determining the viscosity of a liquid sealed in a container by applying a centrifugal force to the container, detecting a change in the surface form of said liquid by the means of a sensor, and measuring either a lapse of time from the application of centrifugal force to the time when the output voltage of the sensor reaches a predetermined level or a voltage output of the sensor upon a predetermined lapse of time from the application of a centrifugal force, thereby examining and determining the viscosity of the liquid to find out whether there is any quality change in the liquid without destroying the container.

The method comprises alternatingly supplying fuel to the engine and suspending the fuel supply to the engine in successive suction strokes. In a heavy load range of operation of the engine, the fuel can be supplied in each of the successive suction strokes. Various different embodiments of the apparatus for performing the above method are disclosed.

The two junctions of each link are pivotally joined to the engine and to the body by means of first and second joining means, respectively, to suspend the engine in a manner allowing turning of same with respect to the center of percussion. A third joining means supports the exhaust pipe of the engine at its holding part for pivotal movement with respect to the center of percussion.

    摘要: Engines having cylinders of noncircular cross section wherein the cylindrical curve is generated at a preselected constant outwardly normal distance from a closed curve. The closed curve is defined as including two spaced points on a major axis of symmetry of the cylinder with two continuously curved portions extending between these points and curved outwardly from the major axis. The closed curve about which the cylinder curve is generated is preferred such that there is a continuous change of curvature without discontinuity in that curvature in the cylindrical curve. The avoidance of discontinuity in the generating curve aids in mass production consideration and cutter life. A plurality of intake and exhaust port arrangements are disclosed illustrating four intake ports and four exhaust ports on opposite sides of the major axis of symmetry of the defined cylinder. In one embodiment, the outermost of the ports are smaller and are positioned closer to the major axis of symmetry. In another, the valves are oriented such that the stems thereof point to the centerline of the associated camshaft for direct actuation.

    摘要: An exhaust system control apparatus for the exhaust of an internal combustion engine which is particularly useful on two-cycle engines. The exhaust system includes a subsidiary chamber connected to the normal engine exhaust passage with a valve for opening and closing communication between the chamber and exhaust passage to change the pressure wave at the engine cylinder exhaust port to provide optimum performance at high and low speeds. The chamber valve is operated rapidly by a pneumatic actuator supplied with compressed air from one or more of the sources disclosed, namely, a belt driven or electric air compressor and piston and cylinder devices extending between or forming the suspension components of a two wheeled vehicle. A pneumatic valve is operated by engine speed sensing means to supply or release the pressurized air to the actuator at a predetermined engine speed.

    摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber which includes a first cylinder closed at the top thereof and having a piston rod which axially extends from the top of the first cylinder and through the interior thereof and provided at the lower end with a piston; and a second cylinder closed at the bottom and telescopically received within the first cylinder. The second cylinder is provided with two radial partition walls having respective hole portions defining oil paths between them and the piston rod. A ring-like elastic member is fitted on the piston rod within a chamber defined between the two partition walls so as to function as a check valve for the oil paths defined between the hole portions in the partition walls and the piston rod. The piston rod is provided with an inner oil path extending therethrough and with a check valve arranged in the inner oil path, thereby compensating for a loss of damping function when the oil path around the piston rod is closed.

    摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber including inner and outer tubes telescopically fitted together and an orifice variable in response to relative movement of the inner and outer tubes. A large diameter tubular holder is disposed coaxially around an upper portion of the outer tube to provide a space between the outer tube and the holder, the space being divided by a tubular partition membrane disposed coaxially in the space into a high-pressure gas chamber located outside of the membrane and a low-pressure gas chamber located inside of the membrane and communicating with an upper space within the outer tube. The shock absorber is of the hydraulically and pneumatically operated type, is simple in structure, and can be assembled with ease while maintaining a desired degree of performance. When the shock absorber is at the end of the extension stroke, there is a sufficient length of span between an outer tube sliding portion and an inner tube sliding portion between which the variable orifice is located so that even when the shock absorber is subjected to lateral bending forces, the orifice clearance is prevented from being varied or deformed, to ensure reliable and smooth operation of the shock absorber.

    摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber of the type having a cylinder and a piston with axial passages therethrough. The piston is mounted to slide within the cylinder. Valve plates having orifices therethrough are provided to control flow through the axial passages of the piston. Certain of the valve plates are situated to operate together with a variable effective orifice on the downstream side of the axial passages and to act with a fixed effective orifice as check valve plates when the flow is reversed. The composite valve thus defined offers a smooth and properly sloping velocity-resistance curve. The shock absorber also includes a foot valve assembly controlling flow between the interior of the cylinder and an annular oil reservoir outside the cylinder. The foot valve assembly may have two check valves for controlling flow through two sets of foot valve passages or it may employ a check valve spring which changes from a "V" shape to a flat shape to cover orifices in a check valve plate.
