摘要: In at least one embodiment, a single sintered magnet is provided having a concentration profile of heavy rare-earth (HRE) elements within a continuously sintered rare-earth (RE) magnet bulk. The concentration profile may include at least one local maximum of HRE element concentration within the bulk such that a coercivity profile of the magnet has at least one local maximum within the bulk. The magnet may be formed by introducing alternating layers of an HRE containing material and a magnetic powder into a mold, pressing the layers into a green compact, and sintering the green compact to form a single, unitary magnet.

In one embodiment, an article of manufacture can include a substrate having a surface and composed of a metal or metal alloy and multiple layers of composite materials deposited on the surface of the substrate. The composite materials is composed of the metal or metal alloy and a ceramic material. The individual composite materials at each of the multiple layers has a composition with a corresponding ratio between the metal or metal alloy material and the ceramic material. The ratios between the metal or metal alloy material and the ceramic material change along at least one dimension of the article of manufacture.

摘要: Provided is a sintered bearing (1) including an inner layer (2) and an outer layer (3) formed by integral molding, the sintered bearing (1) having a bearing surface (A) formed on an inner peripheral surface (2a) of an inner layer (2). The inner layer (2) is made of sintered metal containing Fe and a hardness increasing element (such as Ni or Mo). The outer layer (3) is made of sintered metal containing Fe and no hardness increasing element. A concentration gradient of the hardness increasing element is present at an interface between the inner layer (2) and the outer layer (3).

摘要: A tungsten powder for an electrolytic capacitor having good leakage current (LC) characteristics, which powder contains molybdenum element only in the particle surface region (first surface region) and having a molybdenum element content of 0.05 to 8 mass %. The tungsten powder preferably has a volume average diameter of the primary particle of 0.1 to 1 μm; the molybdenum element is localized in a region from the particle surface to a depth of 20 nm inside the particle; the tungsten powder contains at least one member selected from tungsten silicide, tungsten containing nitrogen solid solution, tungsten carbide, and tungsten boride only in the particle surface region (second surface region); and the content of phosphorus element is 1 to 500 ppm by mass.

摘要: An insert for a drill bit may include a metallic carbide body; an outer layer of polycrystalline diamond material on the outermost end of the insert, the polycrystalline diamond material comprising a plurality of interconnected first diamond grains and a first binder material in interstitial regions between the interconnected first diamond grains; and at least one transition layer between the metallic carbide body and the outer layer, the at least one transition layer comprising a composite of second diamond grains, first metal carbide particles, and a second binder material, wherein the first metal carbide particles form a matrix in which the second diamond grains are dispersed, wherein the first metal carbide particles are present in the at least one transition layer in an amount ranging from about 15 to 50 volume percent.
