Adapter for a rolling assembly having an axis of rotation comprising a tire having two beads, a rim with rim well (13) between two rim seats (12) each with an axially outer end, and width W between axially outer ends of these rim seats. The adapter, coupled between each bead and each rim seat, has two axially outer ends (2) each comprising seat (3) and bearing face (4) in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Body (5) connects outer axial ends (2) and comprises a main reinforcement, face (16) in contact with each seat (12) and with well (13) and positioned radially on the inside. The adapter has a total axial width L between each seat (3), and 60%≧W/L≧20%. Body (5) comprises immobilizing element (8) to wedge the adapter in the rim well (13).

A pneumatic tire includes a pair of annular beads, at least one carcass ply wrapped around the beads, a tread disposed over the carcass ply in a crown area of the pneumatic tire, and sidewalls disposed radially between the tread and the beads. The pneumatic tire is mounted on a rim and a contact area of the pneumatic tire with the rim has carbon nanotubes for reducing micro-slippage between the beads and the rim during rotation of the pneumatic tire under load.

A rim seal and method of manufacturing are provided. A rim seal segment is provided having two free ends and being constructed of a sealing material having a contoured cross-sectional profile. The rim seal segment has a length shorter than a circumference of the rim seal. The two free ends are inserted into a mold in spaced relationship with each other, and a connector is molded between the two free ends to connect the free ends and transform the rim seal segment into a continuous circumferential rim seal. A valve stem may be molded into the connector. A tire-facing surface defined by the combination of the rim portion and an outer surface of the rim seal has a profile conforming to an industry standard.

An inflatable rubber bladder is described which has one or more edge portions which are wedge-shaped. The wedges can be metal or rubber, for example, which are bonded on opposite surfaces to adjacent reinforced layers at the edge of the bladder. The edges can be secured in a recess in a support surface or in a clamp.

A bicycle rim has rim a pair of rim flanges that defines a tire channel. A rim strip extends across the tire channel. The rim strip includes a pair of flange bumpers configured to cover the rim flanges. The flange bumpers each define a flange channel in which one of the rim flanges is received. A pair of safety humps define corresponding tire seating sections where a tire is seated when inflated. The rim strip further includes a drop seal that seals with the beads of the tire to facilitate seating of the tire during inflation.

The adapter has reinforcing element (15) of the axially outer end (9) wholly situated axially on the outside of bearing face (21) and radially on the outside of adapter seat (18), and a main reinforcement (17) having a radial superposition of at least two layers of reinforcers, the reinforcers being mutually parallel within one and the same layer and crossed with one another from one layer to the next. Each of the layers of main reinforcement (17) comprises reinforcers which make, with a circumferential direction (XX′) of the tire, an angle at least equal to 30°, and coated with a polymer material having an elastic modulus at 10% elongation at most equal to 70 MPa.
