Abstract:
This invention relates to a one-piece pneumatic tire and wheel assembly wherein two generally cup-shaped members are welded together back to back to form an airtight rim, and preferably wherein the edge of the rim and the bead of the tire are bonded to each other.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire and wheel rim assembly is disclosed in which the rim bead seats are provided with retaining means for retaining the associated tire bead therein. Preferably the bead seats comprise grooves the side portions of which are provided with the retaining means comprising projections such as teeth which engage and retain the associated tire bead in the groove. Alternatively the retaining means comprises retaining members each of which extends across the width of the associated groove through the tire bead to retain the bead in the groove. Preferably the rim is multi-component to facilitate assembly.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel and tire combination is disclosed herein having a wheel with a central hub provided with attachment holes for receiving wheel studs from a driving wheel drum. The periphery of the wheel hub is provided with an outwardly projecting V shaped integral flange or rim supporting a plurality of loops, spokes or braces arranged in spatial relationship about the entire circumference of the wheel hub flange. A rubber or the like tire casing is carried over the plurality of loops or braces and the terminating edges of the tire casing are vulcanized or otherwise bonded to the recepticles provided in flange so as to enclose or encase the spokes. Steel belting is carried on the underside of the tire casing and the opposite sides of the belting are captured in annular recesses adjacent to and parallel with the recepticle holding the casing edge. Bands are employed to retain the belting in the recess and the assembly of casing and belting are vulcanized together. Air is captured between the hub flange and inside surfaces of the tire casing and belting combination so as to provide a soft vehicle tire reinforced by the loops, spokes or braces.
Abstract:
An integral tire and rim assembly in which the tire is built and cured on the rim. The tire is a closed torus crown over-lap type having a pair of annular inextensible beads. The rim is an annular and axially continuous unitary rigid member with flanges that extend radially outwardly beyond the minimum diameter of the inextensible bead cores. A run-flat device is included in the tire cavity.
Abstract:
A tire unit consisting of a coreless air tire (4), containing a reinforcing ply (7), and a rim (3), the edges (8, 10) of which are permanently connected to one another solely by bonding. The part of the tire edge (8) containing the reinforcing ply is bonded to the latter only on one side of the rim. The rim edge (10) has an undercut (28) in which the tire edge (8) contains an annular reinforcement (29). A main bonding zone (23, 37) is provided in the undercut or adjacent to it on the outside. In the main bonding zone, the tangential angle (25) to the axis (1) is at no point (24) smaller than at each point which lies closer to the tire side wall (6) or smaller than the angle (20) at which the tire side wall (6) runs clear of the rim under all normal loading conditions. Moreover, a process is proposed for producing such a tire unit.
Abstract:
A tire and rim assembly for retaining a deflated tire on a rim in which a pair of bead portions are mounted in bead seats at the edges of the rim. At least one of the bead portions is adhered to the rim at one of the bead seats with a cement having sufficient bonding strength to retain the bead portion on the rim during operation of the tire in the deflated condition. The adhesive bond may be broken without damage to the bead portions of the tire to dismount the tire from the rim after the vehicle is stopped.
Abstract:
A method for improving the adhering ability of a vulcanized rubber surface by treating said surface with a solution of iodine isocyanate or a mixed solution of iodine isocyanate and iodine to provide a high adhering ability to said surface. The thus treated vulcanized rubber surface can be adhered strongly to other vulcanized rubber or the other various materials by contacting these materials tightly using an adhesive or without using an adhesive.
Abstract:
Rolling assembly comprising tire P, rim J, adapter connecting a bead and the rim. The adapter has axially outer (9) and inner (10) ends mounted on rim seat (7) having respective outer (16) and inner (20) reinforcers. Body (11) connects the outer (9) and inner (10) ends forming a single piece, an adapter seat (18) receives a bead and is situated at end (9), an adapter bearing face (21) in a plane perpendicular to the rotation axis, and situated on the axially inner face of outer end (9). Reinforcer (20) of end (9) is axially outside bearing face (21). The body comprises, opposite adapter seat (14), annular seat reinforcer (19) and the adapter comprises conductive strip (22) positioned over all or part of the circumferential perimeter of said adapter and along a complete path extending from adapter seat (14) to rim flange (8).
Abstract:
A tire-wheel assembly and disassembly method is disclosed wherein relative shifting of a tire and a wheel when braking and/or cornering can be suppressed without negatively affecting tire replacement workability. Specifically, a tire-wheel assembly has a wheel constructed from an electrically conductive material and a tire assembled on an outer peripheral side of the wheel, wherein an electrically conductive layer is formed on at least a part of a wheel contact surface of the tire, and an electrically debonding adhesive comprising an ionic liquid is interposed between the electrically conductive layer of the tire and the wheel. When disassembling this tire-wheel assembly, the tire is removed from the wheel after voltage is applied between the wheel and the electrically conductive layer of the tire and electricity is passed through the electrically debonding adhesive.
