Abstract:
Metal cord with three concentric layers including a first layer of diameter dc made up of M wire(s) of diameter d1, around which are wound as a helix at a pitch p2, as a second layer, N wires of diameter d2, around which are wound as a helix at pitch p3, as a third layer, P wires of diameter d3. Some gaps or capillaries in the cord situated between the core and the second layer and between the core wires themselves when M is greater than 1 and between the N wires of the second layer and the P wires of the third layer, contain a filling rubber based on an unsaturated thermoplastic elastomer
Abstract:
A reelable slickline for use in downhole or subsea operations has a structural core comprising a plurality of non-metallic fibres in a matrix. The fibres represent in the region of 30 to 50% of the volume of the core.
Abstract:
A push-pull steel cable (10) comprises a core (12) and an outer layer of filaments (16) twisted around the core (12). The cable (10) is provided with an external coating (20) of polyethylene terephthalate. The coating (20) gives to the cable (10) a good resistance against corrosion, a good weatherability, a good adhesion and adhesion retention and a friction resistance which is comparable to the friction resistance of a cable with a nylon coating. The cable (10) can be used as a brake cable, a shifting lever cable or a window elevator cable.
Abstract:
A rope for a hoisting device, in particular for an elevator, includes at least one continuous load bearing member extending in longitudinal direction of the rope throughout the length of the rope, the load bearing member being made of composite material including reinforcing fibers embedded in polymer matrix. The composite material includes capsules embedded in the polymer matrix, the capsules storing monomer substance in fluid form. An elevator includes a rope of the aforementioned kind and a method for condition monitoring of a rope of an elevator.
Abstract:
A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator system component include one or more metallic cord tension elements extending along a length of the belt, and one or more non-metallic tension elements extending along a length of the belt. Each non-metallic tension element is formed from a non-metallic material. The one or more metallic cord tension elements and the one or more non-metallic tension elements are arrayed laterally across a lateral width of the belt. The belt may be used in an elevator system including a hoistway, a drive machine having a traction sheave coupled thereto, an elevator car movable within the hoistway. The belt is operably connected to the elevator car and interactive with the traction sheave to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway.
Abstract:
A single-strand cord rubberized in situ (C) comprising: an internal layer of the cord (CT1) comprising N1 internal thread(s), an external layer of the cord (CT3) comprising N3 external threads wound helically around the internal layer of the cord, a rubber composition (20) positioned between the internal layer of the cord and the external layer of the cord. The rubber composition (20) comprises a compound of formula (I) or (II) or a salt of this compound: in which each R1, R2, R3 and R4 group represents, independently of one another, an —OH, —O-Alkyl or —O(C)O-Alkyl group.
Abstract:
A cord rubberized in situ (C) comprising: an internal layer of the cord (CT1), an external layer of the cord (CT3), a rubber composition (20) positioned between the internal layer of the cord and the external layer of the cord. The rubber composition (20) comprises a compound of formula (I): in which X and Y represent, independently of each other, an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal cation.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a metal cord with two concentric layers of wires is provided. The cord includes an internal layer of M wires, M having a value from 1 to 4, and an external layer of N wires. The cord is rubberized from within in situ. That is, during manufacture of the cord, the cord is rubberized from inside. According to the method, the internal layer is sheathed with rubber or a rubber compound by passing the internal layer through an extrusion head, and the N wires of the external layer are assembled around the sheathed internal layer to form a two-layer cord rubberized from the inside. The rubber is an unsaturated thermoplastic elastomer that is extruded in a molten state, and preferably is a thermoplastic styrene (TPS) type of thermoplastic elastomer, such as an SBS or an SIS block copolymer, for example.
Abstract:
A composite wire or thread-based reinforcement is coated with rubber and may be used for reinforcing a finished rubber article, such as a tyre. The reinforcement includes one or more textile or metallic reinforcing wires or threads, and a coating rubber that coats each wire or thread. The coating rubber is formed of a rubber composition that includes at least one diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, between 10 and 150 phr (parts by weight per hundred parts of elastomer or rubber) of a platy filler, and a crosslinking system. The coating rubber has improved water-barrier properties, thus giving the composite wire or thread-based reinforcement better protection against corrosion or ageing due to penetration of water, for example through tyre tread.
Abstract:
A cable contains filaments containing carbon, surrounded by a sizing. The filaments surrounded by the sizing are covered by a matrix which is composed of a material containing at least one elastomer and/or at least one thermoplastic elastomer. The cable can be used, in particular for pulling a load, for example in a goods lift.
