    摘要: A method is disclosed for heating a liquid supplied to an engine of a motor vehicle by a pump when the temperature of the liquid is low, thereby reducing the operating efficiency of the engine. The method comprises inefficient operation of the pump by constricting flow to create heat that is transferable to the liquid. Inefficient operation of the pump is enacted when service brakes are applied and the vehicle is decelerating to minimize negative impact on fuel economy and overall engine efficiency.

    摘要: An arrangement for a supercharged combustion engine (2) including a first cooling system with a circulating coolant, a second cooling system with a circulating coolant which is at a lower temperature than the coolant in the first cooling system, and a cooler (10, 15) in which a gaseous medium which contains water vapor is to be cooled by the coolant in the second cooling system. A first valve (32) which can be placed in a first position whereby it prevents coolant from the first cooling system from being led to the second cooling system via a first connecting line (30), and a second position whereby it allows warm coolant from the first cooling system to be led to the second cooling system via the first connecting line (30). The warm coolant from the first cooling system is intended to circulate at least a certain distance (26b, c) in the second cooling system so that it passes through the cooler (10, 15).

    摘要: A preferred embodiment supplemental heating system is fluidly connectable to a vehicle cooling system and includes a liquid heat generator operable for heating a cooling fluid delivered to the supplemental heating system from the vehicle's cooling system. The liquid heat generator includes a discharge passage connectable to a heater core of the vehicle and a inlet passage connectable to the vehicle's cooling system. The supplemental heating system further includes a control valve having an inlet connectable to an exit passage of a heater core of the vehicle, a discharge passage fluidly connected to the liquid heat generator, and a second discharge passage connectable to the vehicle's cooling system. The control valve is operable for controlling the proportion of cooling fluid exiting the heater core that is returned to the vehicle's cooling system and recirculated back to the liquid heat generator.

    摘要: The temperature of a machine component is controlled by transferring heat generated by a torque converter under restricted conditions to the component. The machine includes a circulating fluid system configured to transfer heat from the torque converter to the remotely positioned machine component. A controller is configured to sense the temperature of the component, and to restrict motion of the torque converter turbine when the sensed temperature is below a desired temperature. Heat generated by the torque converter under the restricted condition is transferred through the circulating fluid system to the remote component, such as the machine power source, to control the temperature thereof.

Both the second coolant flow (m2) and the third coolant flow (m3) are subflows of the first coolant flow (m1). In a method utilizing the cooling device for cooling charge air as well as hydraulic oil from a retarder (14), a second coolant flow (m2) and a third coolant flow (m3) are used, both of which are subflows of the first coolant flow (m1).

An auxiliary circuit section (10) is provided comprising a heat exchanger (11) adapted to remove heat coming from the retarder or to yield up heat to the air current thrown back by the rotor of this retarder and a three-way electro-magnetic valve (12) adapted to bring this section (10) into circuit depending on whether the retarder is energized or not and/or whether the temperature of the liquid in the radiator exceeds a certain threshold or not. A second auxiliary circuit section (15-17) allows the passenger space of the vehicle to be heated.
