    摘要: The durability of a supported noble metal hydrodechlorination catalyst can be improved by (1) treating the supported catalyst, which comprises support and catalytic noble metal, with a non-elemental halide compound, which is not a mineral acid (such as an alkali metal halide, an ammonium halide, an alkaline earth metal halide, and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon); and (2) then using the treated catalyst in a hydrodechlorination reaction. Suitable treatment compounds include ammonium chloride, lithium chloride, or a chlorinated hydrocarbon. The treated catalyst is a novel composition of matter comprising at least one platinum group metal supported by an oxidic support wherein the metal, which is in the zero valent state, predominantly resides adjacent the surface of the support and is predominantly visible under a microscope having a resolution of about 5 .ANG..

    摘要: This invention provides a method for high efficiency, high concentration production of hydrogen peroxide wherein oxygen and hydrogen are reacted in the reaction medium in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metallic or carrier supported platinum group metal catalyst onto which an organic halogen compound which is insoluble in water, which compound excludes compounds which contain no halogen other than fluorine, has been adsorbed or a platinum group metal catalyst supported on a carrier in which a halogenated organic compound, which compound excludes compounds that contain no halogen other than fluorine, has been adsorbed to the carrier prior to supporting the platinum group metal. Since it is not necessary for halogen ions to be present in the reaction medium as it was in the prior art, the problems of deterioration due to the dissolution of the catalyst and of corrosion of the structural materials of the reaction vessel are alleviated.

    摘要: A process is disclosed for the treatment of a new or deactivated supported metal catalyst containing noble metal to prepare said catalyst for use in the hydrodehalogenation of a compound having the formula C.sub.n H.sub.m F.sub.p X.sub.q, where each X is independently selected from Cl and Br, wherein n is an integer from 1 to 6, m is an integer from 0 to 12, p is an integer from 1 to 13, and q is an integer from 1 to 13, and wherein m+p+q equals 2n+2 for saturated compounds which are acyclic, m+p+q equals 2n for saturated compounds which are cyclic and for olefinic compounds which are acyclic, and m+p+q equals 2n-2 for olefinic compounds which are cyclic, comprising the step of contacting said catalyst with an atmosphere comprising chlorine gas at a temperature from about 100.degree. C. to 400.degree. C. for a time sufficient to improve the catalytic activity thereof for said hydrodehalogenation. A process is also disclosed for catalytic hydrodehalogenation characterized by using a supported metal catalyst containing noble metal which has been so contacted with an atmosphere comprising chlorine.
