摘要:
The present invention provides a method for successively introducing water soluble fibers into natural fibers (e.g. cotton) to produce a hollow and ultra soft structure, by introducing water soluble slivers into the center of a multi-hole feeder with multiple cotton fiber slivers arranged around the water soluble fiber in a pre-drawing process via a multi-hole sliver feeder. A cloth, e.g., made using the method.

A nonwoven web material including fibers formed of a polyolefin and a polyester is disclosed. The fibers may include fine fibers produced by, for example, a meltblowing process. The polyolefin may be polypropylene and the polyester may be polylactic acid. The polylactic acid may be obtained and included by recycling scrap nonwoven material containing a polylactic acid component, hydrolyzing the polylactic acid component to reduce its viscosity, blending the hydrolyzed polylactic acid with a polyolefin resin, and melt-spinning the blended material to form fibers. A related process is disclosed.

A sea-island composite fiber has an island component which is ultrafine fibers having a noncircular cross-section, the ultrafine fibers being uniform in the degree of non-circularity and in the diameter of the circumscribed circle. The sea-island composite fiber includes an easily soluble polymer as the sea component and a sparingly soluble polymer as the island component, and the island component has a circumscribed-circle diameter of 10-1,000 nm, a dispersion in circumscribed-circle diameter of 1-20%, a degree of non-circularity of 1.2-5.0, and a dispersion in the degree of non-circularity of 1-10%.

Disclosed are multicomponent fibers derived from a blend of a sulfopolyester with a water non-dispersible polymer wherein the as-spun denier is less than about 6 and wherein the water dispersible sulfopolyester exhibits a melt viscosity of less than 12,000 poise measured at 240° C. at a strain rate of 1 rad/sec, and wherein the sulfopolyester comprising less than about 25 mole % of residues of at least one sulfomonomer, based on the total moles of diacid or diol residues. The multicomponent fiber is capable of being drawn at a relatively high fiber speed, particularly at least about 2000 m/min, and may be used to produce microdenier fibers. Fibrous articles may be produced from the multicomponent fibers and microdenier fibers. Also disclosed is a process for multicomponent fibers, nonwoven fabrics, and microdenier webs.

Assemblies of fibers formed by splitting fibers formed from distinct compatible polymeric components, wherein at least one of the compatible polymeric components includes a liquid crystalline polymer and another of the compatible polymeric components includes a thermoplastic isotropic polymer and despite being compatible, the liquid crystalline polymeric component readily separates from the thermoplastic isotropic polymeric component without requiring a separate mechanical or chemical treatment step to achieve splitting.
摘要:
A device and method for spinning polymer fibers utilizes one or more independent sources of polymer materials, pumps for feeding polymer material from each of the sources, and a series of distribution plates with surface grooves, through holes and/or slots together defining separated distribution paths, each of which receives polymer material from one of said independent sources. The surface grooves are defined to a depth less than the thickness of the distribution plate. At least one distribution plate contains spinneret orifices defined by outlet surface grooves extending from the distribution path to the edge of that plate, whereby fibers are extruded from the spinneret orifices edgewise from the plate. The spinneret orifices may be defined by overlayed outlet surface grooves or slots defined in abutting plates.

A lamellar die apparatus for extruding a heated liquid into filaments and directing air at the filaments. The apparatus includes a plurality of plates each having opposite side faces. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have a liquid passage positioned therebetween for transferring the heated liquid. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have an air passage positioned therebetween for transferring the air. At least two of the side faces confront each other and have a heating element passage therebetween. A heating element is positioned within the heating element passage for heating at least two of the plates. An extrusion die is coupled with the plurality of plates and communicates with the liquid passage and the air passage for discharging the heated liquid as multiple filaments and for discharging the air at the filaments.
