Abstract:
A media storage bin including a floor and a pair of spaced apart walls specifically spaced to receive pieces of media and to retain the pieces of media in a stacked condition. A drop control flap is mounted to an individual one of the spaced walls for delaying the fall of a piece of media into the bin. This wall includes a top surface. A platform for supporting a stack of pieces of media is disposed in the bin, between the wall top surface and the floor. A helical spring is disposed between the platform and the floor for maintaining the top of the media stack at a predetermined distance from the wall top surface to provide thereby a constant fall distance between an individual one of the pieces of media and the wall top surface. This is accomplished in a manner whereby the spring rate enables the platform to drop the thickness of one piece of media for each piece of media added to the top of the stack.
Abstract:
A network hub responds to network problems by generating traps in conformance with the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). In generating a trap, the hub includes a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) as a text string incorporated in the trap. The network hub incorporates a server conforming to the HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) used by the World Wide Web. The server has its own home page and the URL incorporated in the trap points to a subpage of that home page. When a network management station receives the trap, the URL is displayed as a hypertext link. When the link is “clicked”, a web browser is activated and is pointed to the URL so that an HTTP “get” command is transmitted. When the hub receives the “get” command, it responds by generating the requested subpage. The subpage is presented as a World Wide Web page with a full presentation of data relating to the event triggering the trap. In addition, the subpage includes active elements (hypertext links, buttons, and/or menu items) that when activated initiate a course of action to address the detection of the network problem.
Abstract:
A printing method and system thereof are described. The locations in a printed image for a plurality of first color (e.g., cyan) dots and the locations in the printed image for a plurality of second color (e.g., magenta) dots are determined. Locations in the printed image for a plurality of third color dots (e.g., yellow) are then determined. The locations for the third color dots are dependent on the locations of the first color dots and the locations of the second color dots. The decision on where to place third color dots is thus made after, and therefore dependent on, the decisions on where to place first color dots and second color dots. Accordingly, color fluctuations in the printed image are minimized, resulting in superior color smoothness and improving the quality of the printed image.
Abstract:
A method for providing electrical signal transmission and a secure mechanical attachment in a flexible circuit assembly. The inventive mechanism combines the electrical features of discrete wiring with the mechanical features of etched pads connected to plated vias on flex circuits in order to achieve robustness in both the mechanical and electrical properties. A discrete wire is preferably securely bonded to a conductive pad which pad is then securely attached to a plated via. In this manner, the sequence of connections is made mechanically secure by either ultrasonically bonding or welding the discrete wire to the pad and employing the traditionally robust connection between the pad and the via. The arrangement achieves high quality electrical signal transmission by employing discrete wiring for signal transmission along any path of significant length.
Abstract:
A hand held inkjet pen includes a housing, an ink reservoir, an inkjet printhead and a spacer. The ink reservoir is located within the housing. The inkjet printhead is located toward a distal end of the housing, and includes a plurality of nozzles for ejecting ink received from the reservoir. The spacer is located at the distal end of the housing for contacting a media sheet. Force applied to the spacer selects an on state for controlling ejection of ink from the plurality of nozzles.
Abstract:
A method and system for an inexpensive wireless imaging are provided which allows a user to take hands-free video or still-picture images. An imaging system includes a mask adapted to be worn by a user having a viewing area covered by a faceplate, an imaging subsystem which is mounted on the mask and adjacent to the faceplate, and an image storage system which is positioned outside the mask in close proximity to the user. The imaging subsystem is adapted to capture images positioned in front of the faceplate. The image storage system is operatively connected to the imaging subsystem by wireless communication and is capable of storing the images and instantly replaying the images for viewing by the user.
Abstract:
A peristaltic pump includes opposing occlusion surfaces and a rotor between the occlusion surfaces. The rotor carries a set of occluding surfaces. At least one of either the set of occluding surfaces or the opposing occlusion surfaces are linearly movable relative to the other of the set of occluding surfaces and the occlusion surfaces.
Abstract:
Micromachine systems are provided. An embodiment of such a micromachine system includes a substrate that defines a trench. First and second microelectromechanical devices are arranged at least partially within the trench. Each of the microelectromechanical devices incorporates a first portion that is configured to move relative to the substrate. Methods also are provided.
