Abstract: An electric motor controller, an electric motor drive circuit, and methods for combined electric motor control are provided. The drive circuit is configured to drive a first electric motor and a second electric motor. The drive circuit includes a rectifier configured to convert an AC input voltage to a pulsed DC voltage, and a first DC link electrically coupled to the rectifier. The first DC-link includes a low-capacitance capacitor having a capacitance less than 10 μF. The drive circuit also includes a first inverter coupled to the first DC-link, the first inverter configured to generate a conditioned output voltage to drive the first electric motor, a second DC-link electrically coupled to the first DC-link, and a second inverter coupled to the second DC-link. The second inverter is configured to generate a conditioned output voltage to drive the second electric motor.

Abstract: An electric machine includes a stator assembly defining a longitudinal axis. The stator assembly includes a substantially cylindrical stator core that is concentric with and extends longitudinally along the longitudinal axis. The stator core includes a stator pole having an inner surface spaced radially outward from the longitudinal axis. The stator pole includes a first aperture extending radially outward from the inner surface of the stator pole. The electric machine also includes a rotor assembly rotatable about the longitudinal axis. The rotor assembly includes a rotatable shaft and a rotor core. The rotor core is concentric with and extends longitudinally along the longitudinal axis. The rotor core also includes a rotor pole including an outer surface spaced radially outward from the longitudinal axis. The outer surface is spaced radially inward from the stator pole inner surface.

Abstract: Drive circuits for parallel electric motors are provided. A drive circuit includes an inverter, at least one current sensor, and a DSP. The inverter is coupled to and configured to provide three phase power to a plurality of parallel electric motors. The at least one current sensor is coupled to the inverter and is configured to measure stator phase currents output by the inverter for driving the plurality of parallel electric motors. The DSP is coupled to the inverter and the at least one current sensor and is configured to receive the stator phase currents from the at least one current sensor, and generate at least one PWM signal for controlling the inverter based on the stator phase currents.

Abstract: An end shield for an electric machine having a rotational axis includes a plate portion, a circumferential bearing retainer extending axially from the plate portion, and an inner hub coupled to the plate portion and spaced radially inward from the bearing retainer to define a circular groove therebetween. The end shield also includes a pair of boundary walls extending between the bearing retainer and the inner hub across the circular groove such that the pair of boundary walls separate the circular groove into a first chamber and a second chamber. The first chamber is configured to receive a supply of grease therein.

Abstract: A draft inducer blower assembly includes a blower having a fan, a dilution air intake passage, an exhaust gas intake passage, and a discharge passage. The blower is configured to operatively connect to a heater system in a manner to facilitate flow of combustion air into a combustion chamber and to draw dilution air into the blower and to mix the dilution air with the exhaust gases and to facilitate flow of the mixed air and exhaust gases through the vent. The dilution air intake passage is positionable in at least a low flow configuration and a high flow configuration. The dilution air intake passage is more restrictive of intake of dilution air in the low flow configuration than in the high flow configuration.

Abstract: An electric machine includes an end frame having a shaft bore extending therethrough. The end frame includes a first side and a second side. A shaft extends through the shaft bore. A bearing is supported by the end frame and is coupled to the shaft to support the shaft for rotation about a longitudinal axis. A first seal is fixedly attached to the end frame and includes an internal bore that is sized to cooperate with the shaft to form a seal point therebetween. The first seal is disposed on the first side of the end frame. A second seal is fixedly attached to the second side of the end frame. The second seal includes a movable portion in direct contact with the shaft to define a second seal point. The first seal point is on a first side of the bearing and the second seal point is on a second side of the bearing.

Abstract: A motor controller is provided. The motor controller is coupled to an efficiency indicator device and to a motor that is coupled to a fluid movement device. The motor controller includes a processor. The motor controller is configured to determine a fluid flow amount representing an amount of fluid moved by the fluid movement device during a predefined time period. Additionally, the motor controller is configured to determine a power usage amount representing an amount of power used by at least the fluid movement device and the motor in association with the fluid flow amount, generate an efficiency report associated with at least the fluid flow amount and the power usage amount, and transmit the efficiency report to the efficiency indicator device for presentation thereon.
