Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus for generating sensations in response to haptic data. A sensation output device can include a processor adapted to generate one or more control signals corresponding to a haptic command, an actuator adapted to output a force to a drive mechanism in response to one or more control signals received from the processor, an opening through which a portion of a user's body can be inserted, and an interface surface coupled to the drive mechanism, the interface surface configured to at least partially contact the inserted portion of the user's body. Further, the interface surface can be a compliant belt having surface features that is coupled with a carrier belt that is in contact with the drive mechanism. Additionally, the sensation output device can include a memory storing an algorithm including one or more haptic commands, which can be executed by the processor.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method of rehabilitating a patient's cardiac/pulmonary activity and achieving increased fluid distribution, includes placing one inflatable/deflatable chest cuff over the patient's chest area and another inflatable/deflatable cuff over the patient's abdominal area, the chest cuff, when inflated, being arranged to depress the chest and force air out of the patient's lungs, the abdominal cuff being arranged, when inflated to apply pressure to the underlying vessels to direct blood into the patient's chest area; inflating and deflating the chest cuff and the abdominal cuff; connecting an intravenous (IV) line to one of the patient's blood vessels, the IV line connected to a fluid source, to facilitate the distribution of medications, by enhancing IV medication and fluid infusion rates, the chest and abdominal cuff inflation and deflation serving as multiple external circulatory pumps to increase the fluid infusion rate.In another embodiment, a patient interface kit includes an inflatable chest cuff adapted to extend over a patient's chest, the cuff including an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the cuff in position for use on a patient, and at least a first electrode attached to a surface of the chest cuff and positioned to be adjacent the patient's heart with the cuff secured in position on the patient's chest, and a second first wiring lead configured for attachment to a utilization device. In another embodiment, a patient interface kit for a system for providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation or circulatory support to a patient, the system including a control unit, the kit including an inflatable abdominal cuff adapted to extend over a patient's abdomen and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the abdominal cuff in position for use on a patient; an inflatable chest cuff adapted to extend over a patient's chest and including an elongated flexible strap, an inflatable bladder and a fastener system to secure the chest cuff in position for use on a patient; a patient platform or backboard configured for disposition against the patient's back during use; and a cuff prepositioning system configured to secure the chest and abdomen compression cuffs to the patient platform in a ready position and to facilitate rapid deployment of the cuffs for use on the patient.
Abstract:
A motorized waterproof fluid dispenser and applicator is disclosed. The device manually dispenses at least one liquid from a filled container through one or more openings in the device's moving applicator surface. The device itself is waterproof, and designed to be used in a shower or bathtub. Pressure applied by a user during fluid application does not appreciably dampen applicator movement. The motor moving the applicator is suspended within the device allowing motion to be transmitted directly to the applicator while motion is only weakly transmitted to the outside of the device held by a user. Removable or disposable pads may be affixed to the applicator surface to present a variety of applicator surfaces or heat. The batteries may be replaced, providing for a long overall lifetime of the device while also providing for its inexpensive manufacture.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for enhancing absorption of a substance to be provided on a region of a patient's skin, includes outputting, by an electronic burst pulse generator, bursts of electronic pulses to the patient's skin, wherein the electronic pulses are generated by an electronic pulse generator. The method and apparatus also includes outputting, by a mechanical burst pulse generator, bursts of mechanical vibrations to the patient's skin at the same time the electronic pulses are applied to the patient's skin. The bursts of electronic pulses are output at a first burst rate, and the mechanical vibrations are output as bursts of vibrations at a second burst rate.

The technology described herein provides a handheld massager. The handheld massager includes a housing dimensioned for handheld grip by a user; a massage head capsule within which a massage roller ball rotates; a thermoelectric assembly configured to selectively and incrementally heat and cool the massage roller ball; a temperature control to control a temperature of the thermoelectric device; a fluid reservoir configured to hold a massage fluid for dispensing to the massage roller ball; a fluid dispenser configured to control the release and volume of the massage fluid from the fluid reservoir; a vibrator motor configured to provide a vibration to the massager; a power source configured to provide power to the massager; user controls configured to variably control vibration, temperature, and power; and a controller configured to electronically couple and control the plurality of user controls, the power source, the fluid dispenser, the temperature control, and the thermoelectric assembly.
Abstract:
A removable applicator nozzle for use in treating a wound is provided. The removable applicator nozzle includes a nozzle, a valve and a cup. The nozzle includes a proximal portion, a distal opening and a valve interface. The proximal portion of the nozzle is engagable with a portion of a transducer of an ultrasound wound therapy device. The distal opening of the nozzle allows at least a portion of a tip of the transducer to pass therethrough. The valve is engagable with the valve interface of the nozzle and the valve selectively allows fluid to flow therethrough. The cup includes an aperture and a puncturing device. The aperture is engagable with the valve and the puncturing device is able to puncture a bottle that is inserted on the cup. Fluid flows from the bottle, through the aperture and the valve and onto a tip of the transducer. The fluid is then moved to the distal opening of the nozzle by a vacuum effect.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aerosol injection and spout for massages and a container including the same. In more detail, the present invention relates to a container including an aerosol injection and spout for massages that are applied to head skin by directly injecting the aerosol including effective elements and has massage effects by tapping head skin with the spout. The container of the present invention comprises a number of soft projecting parts, a medicine passage connecting to a valve of the container including aerosol with effective elements, and at least one orifice connecting to the medicine passage.
