Abstract:
An assembly method is provided by orienting a cylinder-head at a first orientation. A first plurality of spring caps and a first plurality of retainer keys are installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a first robot. A first plurality of valves is installed into the cylinder-head in the first orientation by a second robot, into engagement with the first plurality of retainer keys. An end effector is provided with an actuator supported upon an adapter plate. A shaft extends from the actuator with a mating surface to engage a spring cap. Porting is provided through the shaft to convey pressurized air upon a plurality of retainer keys within the spring cap. A plurality of gripper fingers extend from the distal end of the shaft to grip a valve spring while retaining a spring cap between the valve spring and the mating surface of the shaft.
Abstract:
A system that measures a high electric voltage on an electrical transmission line has an electro optical voltage transducer sensor connected between the electrical transmission line and ground for providing in response to the measured high electric voltage a Sin optical intensity signal and a Cos optical intensity signal. The system also has a signal processor that operates in a first state to digitally process samples of the Sin and said Cos optical intensity signals. The process samples are used to provide a representation of the high electric voltage on the transmission line. The representation can be used for one or more of metering, relaying and transient capture.

Five or more level active neutral-point-clamped (ANPC) converters and operating methods thereof are disclosed. The five or more level ANPC converters may include upper and lower DC links, a neutral point, a converter output, a plurality of switching devices including upper and lower active neutral clamp switching devices, and at least one two-level cell connected to the output. Each of the two-level cells may include a floating capacitor and a bidirectional switch. In some examples, switches may be connected between the upper and lower DC links and the corresponding upper and lower active neutral clamp switching devices, and circuit breaking elements may be connected between the neutral point and the upper and lower active neutral clamp switching devices. In some examples, a bidirectional switch may be connected in parallel with each of the plurality of switching devices other than the upper and lower active neutral clamp switching devices.
Abstract:
A torch assembly used in an arc welder is disclosed. The assembly includes a head, an electrode extending from the head, and a non-linear delivery tube carrying a movable feed wire and extending from the head. A liner is maintained within the non-linear delivery tube wherein the liner receives the feed wire and facilitates movement of the feed wire. A method for controlling a welder and a related interface configuration are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A series injection device includes a power splitter coupled to two or more lines of an AC power system. The power splitter includes a coupling transformer for each phase of a single phase or polyphase AC circuit that includes the two or more lines. Each of the coupling transformers couples one of the phases of the two or more lines. The power splitter is configured to inject a first voltage of a first polarity into one or more of the two or more lines and inject a second voltage of a second polarity opposite the first polarity into at least one of the two or more lines via the same coupling transformers used to inject the first voltage. The first and the second voltages are controllable, and may or may not be independently variable.
Abstract:
A blackbody surface radiator includes a surface having a plurality of adjacent grooves, each groove extending from a groove bottom to a pair of groove tops, each groove top being common with an adjacent groove, the groove bottoms and groove tops having a width of less than 100 micrometers. A mirror-like emissive coating covers the surface.
Abstract:
A combined measuring and detection system is disclosed which includes an electronic evaluation unit for analyzing a broad frequency spectrum of measured quantities and one or more measuring devices for measurement of one or more of a magnetic field, an electric field, a current, and a voltage. The measuring devices are operatively connected to the electronic evaluation unit, which is provided with at least one frequency splitter dividing the measured quantities into a low frequency component and into a high frequency component. Low frequency components are used for measurement and protection analysis and high frequency components are used to detect partial discharges activity.
Abstract:
A system or method, for controlling at least two automated non-passing rail mounted gantry cranes, has, for each crane, a crane control unit for ensuring execution of at least one work order received by the respective crane from an external scheduling system, and may have a rescheduling unit which performs a rescheduling of the at least one work order based on an expected trajectory along the rail determined for each work order. The rescheduling can be achieved by splitting at least one of the work orders into at least two new work orders and by re-sequencing and re-allocating resulting work orders to reduce the number or duration of situations, where the expected trajectory of one crane blocks the expected trajectory of another crane and/or to reduce a workload imbalance between the cranes. The rescheduling unit operates in parallel with the crane control units, and dynamically updates these original work orders.
Abstract:
A gas-insulated switchgear bay includes at least three circuit breakers, which define a longitudinal direction, for interrupting conductor phases at different electrical potentials. The circuit breakers each have a first and second power connection, which define a first and second axis extending orthogonally to the longitudinal direction. A first busbar section is attachable to the first power connection, and the first busbar conductors thereof, each define a third axis, which extends orthogonally to the longitudinal direction and the first axis. A second busbar section is attachable to the second power connection, and the second busbar conductors thereof, each define a fourth axis, which extends orthogonally to the longitudinal direction and the first axis. A first distance between the first and second axes is such that the fourth axis is arranged with respect to position and orientation on a common straight line with the third axis in the second mounting state.
