The invention is intended to simplify a default mechanism of a throttle valve opening and closing device for the purpose of improving mountability of the device to a vehicle. When a motor generate no driving forces, a throttle valve is held in a position (1) by a return spring. In this position, gaps are formed between the throttle valve and a wall surface of an intake passage. Spherical recesses are formed in parts of the wall surface of the intake passage. In a position (2) where the throttle valve is opposed to the spherical recesses, the gaps are minimized in an operating range of the throttle valve.

An intake air flow rate measurement apparatus for measuring a flow rate of intake air taken in an internal combustion engine, using an electrothermal resistor type air flowmeter, includes a delay/non-linearity correction part to perform correction of an output signal of the electrothermal resistor type air flowmeter for a response delay and a non-linearity of the electrothermal resistor type air flowmeter; a waveform feature value extraction part to extract feature values of a waveform of an output signal which has been sent from said electrothermal resistor type air flowmeter and has been corrected for said response delay and non-linearity by the delay/non-linearity correction part; a back flow calculation part to obtain a back flow ratio based on the extracted waveform feature values; and a flow rate calculation part to obtain a correct flow rate of the intake air based on an output of the delay/non-linearity correction part and an output of the back flow ratio calculation part.

In relation to injectors used for internal-combustion engines, it is important to decrease valve closing delay time and also the minimum injection quantity, while these are affected by remanent magnetism in the fixed core, surface tension of the fuel, etc. With reference to a fuel injection valve with a pipe-shaped member to enclose a fixed core and a movable part and further with coils and yokes to cover up the above pipe-shaped member, the anchor to drive the movable member has a plurality of through holes for fuel passage extending in the axial direction, while these through holes are arranged at a certain intervals in the circumferential direction, and projections formed to constitute a contacting surface to touch the fixed core arranged randomly in between the through holes.

The precise control of an injection amount is enabled by using directly the characteristic of injection amount stored in information storage element 102, and obtaining the width of the injection command pulse corresponding to the injection amount instruction value. Thereby, the minimum injection amount which is the minimum value of the fuel supply amount which can be controlled is reduced.

A motor control apparatus for a hybrid car is capable of reducing a spin of the wheel driven by the motor. The hybrid car comprises an engine driven wheel driven by an engine and a motor driven wheel to be driven by a motor for driving the wheel not driven by the engine. The hybrid car has an engine 11, a front wheel 12 driven by the engine 11, a generator 15 connected to this engine and driven thereby, an electric motor 13 for driving the rear wheel 14 using power provided by the generator without being driven by the engine, and a controller 20 mounted on the car to control the output of this electric motor. The controller 20 controls the field currents of the electric motor and generator in such a way that the driving torque of the motor driven wheel to be driven by the electric motor is smaller than the driving torque of the engine driven wheel to be driven by the engine, thereby ensuring traction and car stability.

An apparatus for measuring an intake air flow of an internal combustion engine, wherein presence of a backflow is determined from a waveform of the electric signal of flow detecting unit. If a backflow is present, a kurtosis is calculated. A backflow ratio is calculated based on the relation obtained from the kurtosis and the backflow ratio. The mass of the flow obtained by converting electric signals from the flow detecting unit into flows are integrated or averaged. Then, the integrated value or the average value is compensated by the backflow ratio, and accumulate mass of the air flow is calculated.

Atomizing air flowing in an atomizing gas passage is merged with a fuel spray to promote atomization of the fuel, and carrier air flowing in a carrier gas passage is merged with the fuel spray at a further downstream position so as to surround the fuel spray. By doing so, the atomized fuel spray is carried to the downstream side so as to prevent the fuel spray from adhering onto the wall surface. The starting-up performance, fuel consumption and exhaust gas cleaning of an internal combustion engine are improved in this way.

A device for controlling the flow of intake air to an engine includes an air flow meter for detecting the flow rate of air, an electronically controlled throttle for opening and closing a throttle valve, and an electric motor that drives the throttle valve via a gear. The air flow meter and electric motor are arranged on opposite respective sides of a plane that include an axis of the throttle valve and that extends in a direction of the flow of intake air in the engine.

When the power source of a motor is turned off, a cam connected to the motor is held at an initial default stopping position by a return spring generating a torque in one direction and a throttle valve connected to a cam via an arm, and a valve gear is held at a corresponding default opening position. When the motor rotates and generates its torque, the arm first closes the throttle valve to a prescribed minimum opening and then opens the throttle valve in the fully open direction.
