摘要： To provide an electron tube having good airtightness and being appropriate for mass production, indium affixed to the inner surface of a sealing metal support member is provided between a side tube and input faceplate. The input faceplate is pushed against the side tube. As a result, the indium is squeezed by a pressure receiving surface provided on the end face of the side tube. Since the pressure receiving surface is in a generally declining shape from the inside out, the force of the pressing surface causes the indium to flow outward toward the sealing metal support member. Therefore, the indium is firmly affixed to the pressure receiving surface, and the side tube and input faceplate can be reliably sealed by the indium.

摘要： A photomultiplier is constituted by a photocathode and an electron multiplier having a typical structure in which a dynode unit having a plurality of dynode plates stacked in an incident direction of photoelectrons, an anode plate, and an inverting dynode plate are sequentially stacked. Through holes for injecting a metal vapor are formed in the inverting dynode plate to form secondary electron emitting layers on the surfaces of dynodes supported by the dynode plates, and the photocathode. With this structure, the secondary electron emitting layers are uniformly formed on the surfaces of the dynodes. Therefore, variations in output signals obtained from anodes can be reduced regardless of the positions of the photocathode.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having a preliminary scanning function which is automated by detecting a selection of at least one of an automatic color selecting mode and a letter and photo mixed mode, an existence of an original document on a contact glass, and a movement of an original platen cover from an open state to a closed state. During performing the preliminary scanning function, a depression of a copy start button is not ignored but accepted, and therefore, when the copy start button is depressed, a scanning process for forming an image starts automatically upon a completion of the preliminary scanning. In addition, various instructions, such as a numeric input for instructing, as an example, a number of copies are accepted. The start of preliminary scanning may be selected by operator preference to start when detecting existence of an original document or when detecting an instruction input by the copy start key. The distance to be scanned during a preliminary scanning process and during the scanning process is controlled based upon feedback signals from an original document size detect sensor so as to minimize the scanning area in accordance with the size of the original document.

The stepping motor is excited and driven in one of a plurality of phase excitation modes each causing a different amount of movement per unit synchronizing signal. A phase excitation mode is selected from the plurality of phase excitation modes corresponding to an enlargement or reduction ratio of the image to alter the moving speed of the reading unit corresponding to the rotation speed of the stepping motor.

摘要： An image density control method for an electrophotographic apparatus is disclosed which prepares a white pattern region and a black pattern region on a photoconductive element whose electrostatic latent images are far different from each other in potential. Values relating to image densities individually associated with the two pattern regions are sensed and, based on the sensed values, parameters relating to image processing which effect image density are controlled. When any of the sensed values does not lie in a predetermined range, it is suitably compensated.
