    摘要: In an embodiment, the invention provides a PLCC package comprising first and second lead frames, a plastic structural body, a light source, an encapsulant, and an optical lens. The first lead frame comprises two tongues and a reflector cup. The first and second lead frames are attached to the plastic structural body. The light source is mounted and electrically connected at the bottom of the inside of the reflector cup. The light source is also electrically connected to the second lead frame by a wire bond. The reflector cup is surrounded on at least four sides by the encapsulant, the encapsulant having a domed portion that functions as the optical lens, the encapsulant being an integral single piece structure.

    摘要: A light source having a first mixing chamber, a light pipe structure, and a controller is disclosed. The first mixing chamber includes a first plurality of LEDs, the first mixing chamber having a first transparent window through which light from the first plurality of LEDs exits the first mixing chamber. The light pipe structure has a first end optically coupled to the window such that light from the first plurality of LEDs enters the first end and a second end through which the light exits. The controller determines the power that is applied to the first plurality of LEDs and includes a photodetector optically coupled to the second end of the light pipe structure. The photodetector generates signals indicative of an intensity of light generated by the LEDs, the controller causing the LEDs to be powered such that the signal matches a target value.

    摘要: A light source that generates light having an output optical spectrum is disclosed. The light source includes first and second LEDs and a layer of phosphor that is excited by light from the first LED. The layer of phosphor is positioned to convert a portion of the light from the first LED in a first LED optical spectrum to light having a phosphor spectrum. The second LED emits light in a second LED optical spectrum. The first and second LEDs are powered such that the output optical spectrum includes the first and second optical spectrums and the phosphor spectrum such that the output spectrum is more constant as a function of wavelength at wavelengths between 450 nm to 650 nm than the first or second optical spectrums or the phosphor spectrum. The invention can provide a white LED light source with improved color rendering.
