The features of the present invention are 1) to apply metallization on the bonding surface of a piezoelectric ceramic with a metal likely to react with the piezoelectric ceramic material, 2) when the piezoelectric ceramic material is soldered on the bonding surface, to apply metallization with a metal likely to react with the solder material, 3) to provide between the metallizing layers formed in 1) and 2) a metallizing layer including metal which prevents reaction between the metals and their diffusion, 4) to use a mounting member for the piezoelectric ceramic which has substantially the same thermal expansion coefficient as the piezoelectric ceramic in non-polarization condition and 5) to solder in the non-polarization condition and thereafter to polarize. As the result, a bonded type piezoelectric apparatus with a high reliability or with a broad application temperature range near from the absolute zero temperature to the Curie point of the piezoelectric element, and a method of manufacturing the same are provided.

A plurality of heat-resisting ceramic tiles are metallurgically bonded to a metal-base body having a cooling means through a brazing material. The ceramic tiles are preferably composed of sintered silicon carbide of high density and containing a little beryllium oxide between the boundaries of crystal grains.

By the rotation, the metal of the members moves along the grooves (213) to the center axis direction of the rotary tool (200). The arc-shaped grooves (213)are formed to curve toward the direction of rotation. Since the metal material of the members is moved toward the center, a good weld is realized even when only one of the members to be welded has a projection, or when a large gap is formed therebetween.

In a structure, an aluminum base alloy plate containing Si of 0.4-0.9 wt % and Mg of 0.4-1.2 wt % is prepared, to one face of the aluminum base alloy plate a rib is formed, and the aluminum base alloy plate is an extruded frame member. Accordingly, a railway car having a low welding distortion and a structure having a low welding distortion can be obtained.

After the joining, the remaining parts of the thickened parts can be machined so as to form a smooth surface.

The invention intends to reduce a frequency at which defects occur in a welding region during friction stir welding, and to improve the reliability of the welding region. The invention resides in a friction stir welding apparatus wherein a distance to the surfaces of the workpieces is detected by a detector, a change of the detected distance is found by a signal processing device, and a tool is rotated by a rotation driving device in a state where a vertical driving device is controlled by a control device so as to suppress the found change, whereby a plastic fluidity of the workpieces is caused to accomplish joining of the workpieces.
