    摘要: An object of this invention is to prevent a diaphragm of an actuator from being damaged by a high temperature, and improve a heat resistance property of the actuator. A valve actuator includes a communication hole that allows communication between a high pressure chamber and a low pressure chamber that are separated by a diaphragm, and a normally closed reed valve that opens and closes the communication hole. When a temperature of the valve actuator is less than a pressure release temperature, an ECU changes a differential pressure between the high pressure chamber and low pressure chamber by means of a pressure regulating valve, to control the valve actuator. This control is executed within a range of differential pressures at which the reed valve does not open. If the temperature exceeds the pressure release temperature, a differential pressure at which the reed valve opens is realized by the pressure regulating valve. Thus, pressure is released from the high pressure chamber to the low pressure chamber at a high temperature, and the diaphragm can be protected.

    摘要: A turbine of a turbocharger is disposed on an exhaust passage. An air-fuel ratio sensor is disposed downstream of and in proximity to the turbine. An element of the air-fuel ratio sensor is positioned on or near the axis of an exhaust port of the turbine. A whirling flow of an exhaust gas in the same direction as a turbine wheel rotates is produced immediately after the exhaust port of the turbine, so that the whirling flow of the exhaust gas can centrifuge condensed water in the exhaust gas. The exhaust gas contacts the element near the axis of the exhaust port where there is substantially no condensed water, thus preventing the element from being wetted with water or cracked.

In the internal combustion engine with a supercharger which includes a communication passage 6 that connects between those portions of an exhaust passage 3 which are upstream and downstream of an exhaust gas turbine 4c of the supercharger 4, and a waste gate valve 7 that is arranged in said communication passage 6 so as to open from an upstream side of said communication passage 6 to a downstream side thereof, provision is made for a drive unit that applies a fixed force directed from the downstream side to the upstream side of said communication passage 6 to said waste gate valve 7. By applying the fixed force to the waste gate valve 7, said waste gate valve 7 is not opened until a differential pressure between the upstream and downstream sides of the waste gate valve 7 becomes larger than the fixed force, so the supercharging pressure rises smoothly.
