    Abstract: An image playback device, which may be part of an electronic camera, reads out recorded information that has been recorded on a recording medium. A time period discriminator receives the recorded information read out by the image playback device and discriminates periods of time during which recorded information agrees with certain pre-set conditions. Moving-picture image information contained in the recorded information is played back and displayed in accordance with results of the discrimination.

    Abstract: An imaging device according to the present invention comprises: an imaging section photoelectrically converting an object image and outputting image data; a display section displaying the object image based on the image data; an acceleration sensor section detecting vibration in at least one direction among a plurality of directions of a camera; a determination section continuously determining an output equal to or greater than a gravity force by means of the acceleration sensor section; and a power supply control section supplying power to the imaging section upon detection of an output equal to or greater than the gravity force by the determination section and also upon detection of an attitude change in a vertical direction or the like or a predetermined acceleration when a photographer sets the camera while viewing the display section of the camera.

    Abstract: Automatic selection, recording and meaningful labeling of tracks from media streams is provided. Content information which relates to tracks currently being played and/or to previously played tracks is used to guide selection of tracks to be recorded and to provide meaningful labels for recorded tracks. This content information does not provide an advance schedule of tracks to be played in the future. A segment is temporarily recorded from a selected media stream. The content information relating to tracks in the segment is compared with previous user input (i.e., track preferences) to select tracks within the segment to be recorded. For each selected track, clipping is performed to identify track start and end times. Clipped tracks are recorded onto a suitable long-term recording medium, and labeled with a meaningful label derived from the content information. Content information can be derived by automatic analysis of the media stream.

    Abstract: There is provided an image capturing apparatus that automatically registers a taken object. The image capturing apparatus according to the present invention includes an object extracting section that extracts an object included in a captured image, a characteristic amount computing section that computes an amount of characteristic of the object based on the image with the object extracted from the object extracting section, a characteristic amount storing section that stores the amount of characteristic of the object computed from the characteristic amount computing section in association with object identification information identifying the object, a characteristic amount comparing section that compares an amount of characteristic of an object included in an image newly taken by an image capturing section and the amount of characteristic of the object stored on the characteristic amount storing section to compute a degree of coincidence of the objects, and an object identification information storing section that stores the object identification information stored on the characteristic amount storing section in association with the image newly taken by the image capturing section when it is judged that the degree of coincidence of the objects computed from the characteristic amount comparing section is not less than a predetermined reference value.
