The present invention relates to a method, a system and a server for automatically discovering the common Multimedia Service Capability, and computer program. This solution avoid unnecessary use of the radio interface and is based on making use of the circuit switched network, e.g. the Intelligent network IN, as trigger to the packet switched network to find out about the calling as well as the called user's multimedia capabilities during a voice call. If there is a positive capability discovery result out of this for both users, the network will send a message to each of the two mobile phones that they should notify the users e.g. by displaying an icon above a soft button. It can be that the phone displays a shared multimedia-Image icon, if this was the only commonly supported capability of both users, up to a whole range of more or less complicated SMM services.

A method of performing lawful interception of a multimedia call between two or more terminals. The method comprises detecting the initiation of said call at monitoring equipment located in the call path, and forwarding from the monitoring equipment to a gateway, parameters defining at least one of the forward and reverse channels of said call. At least one multimedia call is set up from said gateway to a monitoring terminal in dependence upon the received parameters. Following the setting up of the first mentioned multimedia call, forward and/or reverse channel data is intercepted at said monitoring equipment, the intercepted data routed to said gateway, and the data transmitted to the monitoring terminal over the forward channel of the or each second mentioned multimedia call.

A parsing instruction generator is provided for processing at least the incoming frame and the preliminary multi-protocol frame classification to provide parsing instructions. A multi-stage parsing engine provides multi-stage parsing of the incoming frame according to the parsing instructions to generate search results presenting information about the incoming frame. An advanced level of data extraction is provided across various frame protocols without imposing a performance penalty. Longest prefix match searches and/or direct lookup searches are supported. Moreover, conditional extractions, instruction branching, multi-stage processing are all performed in real time.

One necessary service is lifeline service that may be provided over the coaxial cable via a cable modem of the integrated residence gateway, over the twisted pair facility or via wireless means. The integrated residence gateway is coupled to either or both of the coaxial cable or twisted pair and distributes the bandwidth facilities available over either service vehicle to customer devices including the set top box. Wireless lifeline services may be offered through transceivers placed at the integrated residence gateways and/or at taps feeding the integrated residence gateways.

In case of data communication between one node terminal and the other node terminal, the respective addresses of the node terminals are described in the address description area to designate a sender and a destination. Owing to the provision of the address description area, it is possible to certainly transmit the communication data from the sender to the nominated destination without reducing data volume transmitted per unit time.
