Abstract: A coulter assembly for collecting soil samples from an agricultural field in one embodiment comprises an annular collection blade configured for penetrating soil to capture a sample, an annular cam ring configured for stationary mounting to a frame of an agricultural vehicle and comprising a cam track, a blade hub coupled to the blade for rotatably supporting the annular collection blade from the annular cam ring, and a movable sample collector mounted to the annular collection blade. The moveable sample collector is configured and operable for extracting a soil sample as the annular collection blade is rotated through the soil. The moveable sample collector in one embodiment comprises a piston mechanism including a cylinder and rod movably disposed therein which actuated by the annular cam ring to alternatingly open and close a collection end of the cylinder as the annular collection blade rotates through the soil.

Abstract: A cell picking device includes a stage, a sucker, a driver, a work content receiver, a registrar and a device controller. A sample container is placed on the stage. The driver is provided to execute sample scraping work and sample sucking work using a pipette tip attached to the sucker. In a case in which selection of work contents of the driver is received by the work content receiver, a work procedure including the received work contents of the driver is registered by the registrar. The work of the driver is controlled by the device controller in accordance with the registered work procedure.

Abstract: Manufacturing system and method for creating multiple tissue constructs from cells. System can include a thaw subsystem (if the cells are provided in a frozen state), an expansion subsystem, a concentration subsystem, and a tissue maturation subsystem. Each of these subsystems is modular and can be reconfigured, and the process can be repeated depending on the specific tissue process being implemented. Multiple tissue types can be combined in multiple bioreactors. The activities of multiple bioreactors can be coordinated and controlled in an automated manner by a supervisor controller. The supervisor controller can receive user input at the start of the process, and can manage the process henceforth, alerting the user if user actions are required.

Abstract: An automated computer-controlled sampling system and related methods for collecting, processing, and analyzing agricultural samples for various chemical properties such as plant available nutrients. The sampling system allows multiple samples to be processed and analyzed for different analytes or chemical properties in a simultaneous concurrent or semi-concurrent manner. Advantageously, the system can process soil samples in the “as collected” condition without drying or grinding. The system generally includes a sample preparation sub-system which receives soil samples collected by a probe collection sub-system and produces a slurry (i.e. mixture of soil, vegetation, and/or manure and water), and a chemical analysis sub-system which processes the prepared slurry samples for quantifying multiple analytes and/or chemical properties of the sample. The sample preparation and chemical analysis sub-systems can be used to analyze soil, vegetation, and/or manure samples.

Abstract: A method for analysis of biological samples, implemented in a reversed open microwell system which includes an array of open microwells, a microchannel, an input port for reagents and/or biological samples and an output port. The microwell system is inserted in an automated management system that includes: an incubator at controlled temperature, humidity and CO2, fluid dispensing system, phase-contrast and fluorescence image acquisition. A kit introduces fluids in a microfluidic device that includes a tip. A microfluidic device and system include a microchannel and an input region having a vertical channel. The tip and the vertical channel are dimensioned to produce an interference coupling. A discharge region includes: a discharge container connected with the microfluidic device through a discharge channel and an output port.
