Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for advising a user when an energy storage device in a computing system needs charging. State of charge data of the energy storage device can be measured and stored at regular intervals. The historic state of charge data can be queried over a plurality of intervals and a state of charge curve generated that is representative of a user's charging habits over time. The state of charge curve can be used to generate a rate of charge histogram and an acceleration of charge histogram. These can be used to predict when a user will charge next, and whether the energy storage device will have an amount of energy below a predetermined threshold amount before the next predicted charging time. A first device can determine when a second device typically charges and whether the energy storage device in the second device will have an amount of energy below the predetermined threshold amount before the next predicted charge time for the second device. The first device can generate an advice to charge notification to the user on either, or both, devices.

Abstract: Systems and methods for thermal zone controls based on User-Selectable Thermal Table (USTT) presets in heterogenous computing platforms are described. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a heterogeneous computing platform having a plurality of devices and a memory coupled to the heterogeneous computing platform, where the memory includes firmware instructions that, upon execution by at least one of the plurality of devices, causes the at least one device to operate as an orchestrator configured to: detect a change to a USTT table; and, in response to the detection, modify an Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) thermal zone setting.

Abstract: A management circuit is coupled to multiple processor cores for performing current suppression. The management circuit includes a detection circuit and a throttle signal generator. The detection circuit is operative to receive an activity signal from each processor core, and estimate a total current consumed by the plurality of processor cores based on activity signals. The activity signal indicates a current index proportional to current consumption of the processor core in a given time period. The throttle signal generator is operative to assert or de-assert throttle signals to the processor cores, one processor core at a time, based on one or more metrics calculated from the total current.

Abstract: Examples relate to flexible datacenters or other power loads tolerant of intermittent operation and configured to use power received behind-the-meter. A system may include a set of computing systems powered by behind-the-meter power and a datacenter control system. The datacenter control system may be configured to monitor a set of conditions that includes behind-the-meter power availability at the set of computing systems and perform a weighted analysis using the set of monitored conditions. Based on the weighted analysis, the datacenter control system may be configured to modulate operating attributes of one or more computing systems of the set of computing systems. In some examples, the datacenter control system is a remote master control system in communication with a datacenter control system of a flexible datacenter housing the set of computing systems.

Abstract: Systems and methods for discrete power control of components within a computer system are described herein. Some illustrative embodiments include a system that includes a subsystem with a plurality of components (configurable to operate at one or more power levels), a control register (coupled to the plurality of components) including a plurality of bits (each uniquely associated with a one of the plurality of components), and a power controller coupled to, and configurable to cause, the plurality of components to operate at the one or more power levels. The power controller asserts a signal transmitted to the subsystem, commanding the subsystem to transition to a first power level. A first of the plurality of components, associated with an asserted bit of the control register, operates at a second power level corresponding to a level of power consumption different from that of the first power level indicated by the power controller.

Abstract: A head-mounted device having a plurality of electrodes configured to detect optical events such as the movement of one or more eyes or coarse eye gestures is disclosed. In some examples, the one or more electrodes can be coupled to dielectric elastomer materials whose shape can be changed to vary contact between a user of the head-mounted device and the one or more electrodes to ensure sufficient contact and electrode signal quality. In some examples, the one or more electrodes can be coupled to pressure sensors and control circuitry to monitor and adjust the applied pressure. In some examples, the optical events can be used as triggers for operating the device, including transitioning between operational power modes. In some examples, the triggers can invoke higher resolution sensing capabilities of the head-mounted device. In some examples, the electrodes can be used as an on-head detector to wake-up and/or unlock the device.

Abstract: Methods and corresponding systems and apparatuses for saving power through selectively disabling clock signals in a systolic array are described. In some embodiments, a clock gate controller is operable to output a gated clock signal from which local clock signals of processing elements in the systolic array are derived. The gated clock signal corresponds to a root clock signal that is distributed through a clock distribution network or clock tree. The clock gate controller is located along one branch of the clock distribution network. The branch can be associated with processing elements that form a column within the systolic array. Disabling the gated clock signal disables the local clock signals along the entire branch, preventing any components that are clocked by those local clock signals from consuming power. Additional clock gate controllers can similarly be provided for other branches, including a branch associated with another column.
