Abstract: A manifold block and valving system using the manifold block are provided, which are used for conducting chemical reagents, solvents, and other fluids. The manifold block includes a "straight-through" common passage in fluid connection with several entry ports, including also a number of projections in the common passage in the vicinity of the entry ports. These projections partially obstruct the fluid flow, causing a turbulence that provides a washing action in those port regions. The manifold may be constructed of a photosensitive glass ceramic such as Fotoceram.TM. which consists of a number of layers which have been processed to form the manifold block, or of other suitable materials such as silicon.

Abstract: A compact manifold for distribution of fluids (gas or liquid or combination thereof). The manifold has a block having fluid channels provided therethrough between two faces of the block. Against one face, a plate is fastened which swages ferrules between the plate and the block to tightly connect fluid conduits through the plate to the block. On the opposite face of the block, a manifold plenum is formed in a groove between a manifold plate and an o-ring. The o-ring is pressed against the manifold plate by a back plate and both plates are securely fastened onto the block such that the holes in the manifold plate are aligned with the fluid channels in the block. Checkvalves are positioned between the block and the manifold plate to prevent backflow. The above-mentioned components are positioned into their respective places and are secured upon the tightening of the fasteners. The manifold is configured with at least two plenums each having a group of distribution outlets. A checkvalve is provided at each outlet on the plenums. The plenums are connected to a single source in cascade, whereby the plenums are connected via a length of small diameter tubing which serves as a barrier against diffusion of fluid between the plenums. Thus, there are at least two checkvalves and a diffusion barrier tubing in the flow path between two reagent containers.

Abstract: A reagent feeder which can to be used in both a finger-push system and a slide system by only attaching and detaching a simple auxiliary component to and from a case body depending on the state of operation or a preference of the operator. The feeder includes a case body, a sphere discharge port and a discharge device, so as to discharge a sphere one by one by pushing down the discharge device. The discharge device is provided with an operation lever which extends out of the case body and can be pushed down by a finger. A slide cover surrounding an outer periphery of the case body is attached to the case body in such a way that it can be moved freely in a vertical direction and can be detached from the case body. The slide cover is engaged with the operation lever of the discharge device so that it can be moved integrally with the discharge device.

Abstract: A metering apparatus for the metered delivery of flowable or fluent material masses comprises a drum member rotatable about a substantially horizontal lengthwise axis. A cylindrical shell of such drum member contains a multiplicity of openings. A cell wheel is rotatably arranged within the drum member. Abstract: A laminated plate structure including conduit and regent delivery means for a fluid delivery system is provided to deliver precise volumes of a plurality of fluids in sequence to a treatment reservoir. Fluid channels are formed in the plate structure to provide a means for delivering fluids from a plurality of fluid reservoirs attached to the plate structure to one or a plurality of treatment reservoirs attached to the plate structure. Each fluid is delivered by a system comprising a fluid reservoir, an inlet valve in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir, a positive displacement pump in fluid communication with the inlet valve and an outlet valve in fluid communication with the positive displacement pump all of which are attached to the plate structure. The means for delivering fluid and the fluid reservoirs are positioned on opposing surfaces of the plate structure. The plate structure is provided with vent holes for venting vapors that may be produced during formation of the plate structure.

Abstract: Means are disclosed for introducing a biological poison to water being removed from a lake or stream for presentation to an automatically operating water quality monitoring system. The poison introducing means is operative at only periodic intervals; and, when operating to introduce poison, a sampling device of the monitoring system is disabled to preserve its accuracy. The monitoring system is otherwise permitted to operate routinely during the time the poison is present in the system. The poison is admixed to the water promptly as the water is introduced to the monitoring system, with the result that the biological poison will cleanse the entire monitoring system by killing biological slime otherwise adhering to the exposed surfaces within the system. The biological poison also maintains sensor sensitivity within the monitoring system. The biological poison further suppresses biological activity in the water being monitored, thus preserving sample values that would otherwise have changed as the water being sampled advanced to remotely located monitoring equipment.
