An information processing device includes an element deforming section for transfer-deforming at least one of divided plurality of elements of a graphic character; and an output section for alternately outputting first display data of the element after being transfer-deformed by the element deforming section and second display data of the element before being transfer-deformed by the element deforming section by switching the first display data and the second display data. According to the described arrangement, a dynamic image of the graphic character can be displayed on a screen in such a manner that only a portion as desired of the element which constitutes the graphic character can be displayed on the screen. As a result, a dynamic image of the character or drawing can be displayed in a manner as desired by the user with ease without requiring a complicated process.

A character pattern generating apparatus includes a CPU and a memory for pre-storing character shape skeleton data, element skeleton shape data, element skeleton shape data, and element outline shape data. The CPU determines whether a thickness of a character is to be altered or not from a standard thickness, and determines whether the process of altering the thickness of each constituent element in the element outline shape data is to be performed by calculation, or by replacing the element with an alternative element in the case where character thickness is to be altered. The CPU then alters the thickness in the element outline shape data according to the determination and deforms the element skeleton shape data based on the character shape skeleton data. Associated therewith, the CPU alters the element outline shape data based on the altered element skeleton shape data and generates a character pattern from the altered element outline shape data.

A semiconductor substrate with no reduction in the effective usage area and mechanical strength, and non-uniformity of the resist film thickness, and method of manufacturing and using the same are obtained. A detection mark for detecting the crystal orientation of a silicon wafer having an outer perimeter entirely of a circular contour is formed at a predetermined region of the silicon wafer. The crystal orientation of the semiconductor wafer can easily be detected with the outer perimeter still taking a circular contour. Therefore, various problems encountered in a conventional semiconductor substrate having an orientation flat or notch such as reduction in mechanical strength and effective usage area, and non-uniformity of the resist film can be circumvented.

A composite metal foil is provided comprising a porous metal foil comprising a two-dimensional network structure composed of a metal fiber, and a primer provided on at least a part of the interior and/or periphery of pores of the porous metal foil. According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a composite metal foil which has a desired function imparted by a primer in addition to superior properties derived from a porous metal foil, in a highly productive and cost effective manner that is suited for continuous production.

The outer diameter of a spline nut and the inner diameter of a nut body holding portion of a housing gradually decrease in the downward direction. A ball screw protection unit includes a nut body taper face that is formed in the outer peripheral face of the spline nut, a holding portion taper face that is formed in the nut body holding portion, and a disc spring that is provided at the upper end of the spline nut and that biases the spline nut in such a direction that a friction force between the nut body taper face and the holding portion taper face increases (downward direction).

A ball joint and production method thereof that ensure that grease retainers are provided on the entire contact surface of a resin sheet between an outer surface of a round head of a ball stud and the contact surface to properly maintain lubrication between the round head and the resin sheet. Graphite particles are dispersed over an inner surface of the resin sheet, and the resin sheet and the round head of the ball stud are inserted in a housing. An open end portion of a housing body is swaged to be reduced in diameter. The graphite particles are pressed against the inner surface of the resin sheet, whereby portions of the inner surface of the resin sheet against which the graphite particles abut are depressed. Thus, gaps are formed around the respective graphite particles. Grease enters the gaps, which each function as a grease retainer.
