A user device 200, and corresponding method within, is arranged for providing, dependent on an environment of the user device, a reminder message for a user of the device and includes a receiver 205 for detecting, when present, an external signal; a controller 209 for determining when the presence of the external signal has changed; and retrieving, if so, a reminder message associated with the user device; and a user interface 211, coupled to the controller, for providing the reminder message in a user perceptible form.

A method and structure that protects interior electrical components of a pressure sensor (4) from corrosive particles using a sacrificial gel dome (30) to form a vent (34) in a protective gel (32) that covers electrical components that can be corroded such as wires (16), bond pads (18), and electrical leads (14). Sacrificial gel dome (30) is dispensed over a diaphragm (28) of pressure sensor (4) to form vent (34) enabling diaphragm (28) to sense pressure variations without the influence of protective gel (32). Sacrificial gel dome (30) is removed through a water rinsing process (42) to expose vent (34).

A PDSN (18) includes a usage recording agent (19) for distinguishing between nonbillable and billable activity of a subscriber device 12. The usage recording agent (19) creates a record of a total number of bytes transmitted from the PDSN (18) to the RAN (14), counts bytes that are retransmitted from the PDSN (18) for providing a retransmitted byte total, and forwards the retransmitted byte total and the record to an AAA (28) so that the record can be adjusted in accordance with the retransmitted byte total.

An open service trading system (10) and method therein enables the reselling of services among brokers (18), resellers (16) and service providers (14) to service subscribers (12). The service trading system (10) comprises domain specific knowledge bases (22a-40a) constrained by respective ontology domains (22b-40b), where the ontology domains (22b-40b) together define a service trading ontology structure. In addition, rational agents (42-70) are each committed to one or more of the domain specific knowledge bases (22a-40a) to enable interaction with others of the rational agents to achieve associated participant trading goals as defined within the service trading ontology structure.

A Universal Serial Bus (USB) adaptor (16, 16null, 16null), compatible with standard USB connectors, provides a simplified interface between a portable communications device (12) and a USB accessory (14, 14null). An encoder (28) provides an operating state to the portable communications device (12), enabling the portable communications device (12) to perform as either a USB host or a USB function accessory. A function adaptor (16null) selects its DC power source and is capable of providing DC power to a function accessory (14null). The host adaptor (16) can obtain DC power from a host accessory (14), according to USB standards.

The variable porosity gas diffusion material layer (150) operates to selectively limit the amount of reactants reaching localized areas of the membrane electrode assembly (110) in order to reduce hot spots.

At least one visual significance metric is determined (12) for at least some frames belonging to an original series of frames (11). Key frames are identified (13) as a function, at least in part, of the visual significance metric. Cumulative visual significance values are then determined (14) for at least some of the frames that intervene between each pair of key frames. These cumulative visual significance values are then used to identify (15) frames of additional content interest. Various frames are then selected (16) for use in a visual summary. In one embodiment, all of the key frames and frames of additional content interest are selected for inclusion in the visual summary.

An Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) regulates the operation of the digital camera sensor array. The acquisition of images and videos is optimized through having the automatic exposure control lock the exposure time of the photo-sensor array prior to performing any digital processing on the acquired image. The automatic exposure control determines the amount of exposure through moving the median brightness to the center of the dynamic range.

Abstract:
A method for plating solder is provided. In accordance with the method, a die having a seed metallization thereon is provided. The seed metallization is microetched (85) with a solution comprising an acid and an oxidizer, thereby forming an etched seed metallization. An under bump metallization (UBM) is then electroplated (87) onto the etched seed metallization, and a lead-free solder composition, such as SnCu, is electroplated (91) onto the UBM. A method for reflowing solder is also provided, which may be used in conjunction with the method for plating solder. In accordance with this later method, the substrate is subjected to a seed metallization etch (137), followed by a microetch (141). A solder flux is then dispensed onto the substrate (147) and the solder is reflowed (149).
