摘要: A flow reversing device for performing blood treatment can include a flow reversing actuator. The flow reversing actuator can receive and engage a disposable tubing set with multiple branches that form forward and reverse blood flow paths respectively when blood the flow reversing actuator is selectively changed between forward and reverse configurations. The shape of the tubing can be such that during forward operation, dead regions of non-flowing blood are defined. The flow reversing actuator can have a controller configured to operate generally in forward mode. At first times, the controller can cause the flow reversing actuator to clear the dead regions. At second times, the controller can cause the flow reversing actuator to test for leaks by reversing the flow of blood for a period of time sufficient to cause air to be drawn into the tubing set and conveyed to an air sensor.

摘要: Methods and devices for use and handling of intravenous and/or subcutaneous needles, and, more particularly, to safety devices for shielding needles or other sharp articles or devices that present a safety hazard are disclosed. In an embodiment, a needle protective sheath can include a top wall, a bottom wall, and a pair of side walls joining the top and bottom walls. A finger shield extends from the top wall at a front opening of the sheath and is attached to the top wall by a hinge portion. The finger shield can be rotated about the hinge portion to block the front opening so as to secure a needle within the sheath.

摘要: Releasable tubing pinch clamps of a generally U-shaped configuration are described. The embodiments include ones that prevent cross-clamping of the tube by various interlocking features on riser portions of the clamp. Methods and molds for making the pinch clamps are also described. The pinch clamp consists generally of a strip that curves so that its ends can be brought together by manually squeezing the strip at its ends which oppose each other as a result of the strip curve. The strip ends contain locking edges or surfaces that cause the strip ends to interferingly engage with each other and lock together. The strip also contains opposing pinching projections that pinch a tube.

摘要: An external fluid warming device is described that includes a fluid warming chamber and an air separation chamber. The fluid warming chamber has a fluid inlet that communicates with a fluid pathway. The air separation chamber that communicates with the fluid pathway has a fluid outlet and a gas outlet. A heating source, such as heat plates, are disposed adjacent the fluid pathway for transferring heat to the fluid. In use, the air separation chamber is positioned above the fluid warming chamber and the heating source. The fluid inlet is connected to a source of fluid and the fluid outlet is connected to an output device, such as an ultrafiltration machine. Gas generated during warming of the fluid collects at a top of the air separation chamber and is vented through the gas outlet, whereas fluid passes through a bottom of the air separation chamber and through the fluid outlet.

摘要: A method for measuring pressure includes securing a flow channel to a chassis of a measurement device, the flow channel having a flexible wall with a first mechanical engagement feature presented from an external surface thereof. The method also includes engaging the mechanical engagement feature with a complementary engagement member connected to a force transducer, the securing being effective to immobilize the flow channel relative to the force transducer, and detecting at least one of the position and orientation of the of the flow channel relative to transducer and comparing to at least one of a predefined position and orientation. Further, the method includes generating a signal responsive to the detecting, flowing a fluid through the flow channel, and transmitting forces caused by displacement of the flexible wall through the complementary engagement member to the force transducer. Further, electrical signals are generated responsively to a state of the force transducer.
