Abstract: Curable fluoropolymer containing repeating units derived from VDF and TFE and at least one other fluorinated co-monomer and further containing —CF2CH2I end groups and branching sites derived from one or more perfluorinated bisolefinic ether(s) used as modifier(s), wherein the one or more perfluorinated bisolefinic ether(s) used as modifier(s) correspond to the general formula: CF2═CF—(CF2)n—O—(R1)—O—(CF2)mCF═CF2 wherein n and m are independent from each other either 1 or 0 and wherein R1 represents a perfluorinated linear or branched, cyclic or acyclic aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon residue that may be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms and comprises up to 30 carbon atoms. Further provided are methods of making the curable fluoropolymers and for making an article containing the curable polymers.

Such compositions can be used in multilayer constructions in, for example, fuel hose applications.

Abstract: Described herein is a peroxide curable, highly fluorinated elastomer derived from (a) a fluorinated di-iodo ether compound of the following formula I: Rf—CF(I)—(CX2)n(CX2CXR)m—O—R″f-Ok—(CXR′CX2)p—(CX2)q—CF(I)—R′f wherein X is independently selected from F, H, and Cl; Rf and R′f are independently selected from F and a monovalent perfluoroalkane having 1-3 carbons; R is F, or a partially fluorinated or perfluorinated alkane comprising 1-3 carbons; R″f is a divalent fluoroalkylene having 1-5 carbons or a divalent fluorinated alkylene ether having 1-8 carbons and at least one ether linkage; k is 0 or 1; and n, m, and p are independently selected from an integer from 0-5, with the proviso that when k is 0, n+m is at least 1 and p+q is at least 1; and (b) a fluorinated monomer.

Abstract: A method of making a highly fluorinated polymers and resulting aqueous mixtures. The method comprising polymerizing one or more perfluorinated monomers in an aqueous emulsion polymerization in the presence of a polymerizable fluorinated emulsifier to form a perfluorinated polymer. The polymerizable fluorinated emulsifier has the formula X2C═CX(CF2)m(CH2)n[O—(CX2)p]q—[O—(CX2)r]s−[O—(CX2—CX2)]t—[(O)w—(CX2)u]v—[CH2]z—Y. The method also provides for isolating the highly fluorinated polymer and post-fluorinating the isolated highly fluorinated polymer.

Abstract: A copolymer having tetrafluoroethylene units, hexafluoropropylene units, and units independently represented by formula in a range from 0.02 to 2 mole percent, based on the total amount of the copolymer. Rf is a linear or branched perfluoroalkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally interrupted by one or more —O— groups, z is 1 or 2, each n is independently from 1 to 6, and m is 0 or 1. The copolymer has a melt flow index in a range from 25 grams per 10 minutes to 35 grams per 10 minutes and has a combined number of unstable end groups and —CF2H end groups in a range from 25 per 106 carbon atoms up to 120 per 106 carbon atoms. The copolymer can be extruded to make articles, such as insulated cables. A method of making the copolymer is also disclosed.

Abstract: A copolymer having tetrafluoroethylene units and units independently represented by formula (I) in a range from 0.02 to 2 mole percent, based on the total amount of the copolymer. Rf is a linear or branched perfluoroalkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms and optionally interrupted by one or more —O— groups, each n is independently from 1 to 6, m is 0 or 1, and z is 0, 1, or 2.
