摘要: Embodiments in accordance with the present invention reduce the influence of etching damage at junction edge of a magnetoresistive film in the sensor height direction, lower the deterioration of dielectric breakdown voltage between an upper magnetic shield layer and a lower magnetic shield layer and instability of reproducing property resulting from shield process, and maintain electrostatic capacity to a small value in a CPP magnetoresistive head. In an embodiment of a magnetoresistive head of the present invention, length in the sensor height direction of bottom surface of a pinning layer is longer than the length in the sensor height direction of bottom surface of a first ferromagnetic layer. The angle formed by an edge in the sensor height direction of the pinning layer to the surface extended from a bottom surface of a magnetoresistive film is smaller than the angle formed by an edge in the sensor height direction of a second ferromagnetic layer to the surface extended from a bottom surface of the magnetoresistive film. Height of top surface of a sensor height direction refill film is equal to or higher than the top surface of the magnetoresistive film.

摘要: An X-ray reflectivity measuring method is provided to measure and inspect, with higher accuracy, film thickness of a thin film stack as a sample where a thick film is provided on the thin film stack. This X-ray reflectivity measuring method can measure X-ray reflectivity of the thin film stack embedded within a thick film by applying the X-ray focused to ⅓ or less the thickness of a thick film on the thin film stack to an end surface of the thick film, transmitting the X-ray through the thick film, thereafter applying the X-ray to the thin film stack, transmitting again the reflected X-ray to the thick film, and then extracting the reflection X-ray from the end surface in the opposite side of the incident surface and also can inspect film thickness of the thin film stack embedded in the thick film with the Fourier transformation method and the minimum square analysis method with the theoretical curve.

摘要: The present invention aims to provide an axis alignment method, astigmatism correction method and SEM for implementing these methods, which can prevent an alignment or correction error attributable to conditions of a specimen. A first aspect is to obtain the difference between the optimal values acquired from an automatic axis alignment result on a standard sample and from each of automatic axis alignment results on a observation target sample, and to correct an optimal value adjusted using the standard sample by use of the difference thus obtained. A second aspect is to acquire an optimal stigmator value (astigmatism correction signal) by using the standard sample, to store the optimal stigmator value as a default value, to add the optimal stigmator value and the default value depending on the height of an observation target sample pattern, and to perform an astigmatism correction on the basis of the resultant stigmator value.

摘要: There are provided a control system and method and an engine control unit for an internal combustion engine, which are capable of determining an amount of fuel to be injected during a two-stage fuel injection combustion mode and a duration period of this mode such that stable combustion and smooth transition between combustion and smooth transition between combustion modes are ensured. The control system includes an ECU and a crank angle sensor. The ECU calculates a demanded torque PME demanded of the engine, and determines which of the homogenous combustion mode, the stratified combustion mode, and the two-stage fuel injection combustion mode should be selected as the combustion mode of the engine, based on the demanded torque PME. The ECU determines an injection time period ToutD during the compression stroke in two-stage fuel injection combustion mode based on the engine rotational speed.

摘要: In an image processing apparatus, an image reading unit reads a document put on a platen glass to generate image data, and a detector in the image reading unit detects offset, tilt angle and document area of the document put on the platen glass. A rotation angle is set based on the image data of a document. The entire document area is determined based on a portion of the document which exists within the image reading area when the document extends beyond the image reading area. The document area can be detected even if a document is not rectangular. For example, a slope of the document is determined based on the detected longest segment. In order to solve the unequal reading pitch, the longest segment is selected in the segments having a slope smaller than a predetermined angle relative to the subscan direction. Then, the image data are corrected according to the above result.

摘要: In an image processing apparatus, an image reading unit reads a document put on a platen glass to generate image data, and a detector in the image reading unit detects a tilt angle of the document put on the platen glass. A rotation angle is set based on the image data of a document and the image data is modified according to the rotation angle. The modification is controlled so as not to deteriorate the image quality. For example, the image data is rotated by an angle at which the document is tilted when the document is read, if the detected tilt angle of a document is larger than a predetermined value. The modification of the image data may be controlled according to a characteristic of the image data. For example, the image data is not rotated when the document is decided to include a half-tone image by detecting the attribute of the image data. Preferably, a magnifying power for reading the document is calculated according to the detected tilt angle, and the image data are read again at the magnifying power. Then, the optically magnified image data of the document is rotated by the tilt angle.

摘要: An image forming apparatus records an image on a recording medium after correcting a slant of the image according to a type of document sheet or an operating history of the image forming apparatus. Normally, a slant of the document sheet is corrected by bringing one edge of the sheet in contact with a document scale provided on a document platform. When the sheet is of thin paper or sheets of different sizes are mixed, an image signal obtained by scanning a document image is electrically processed so as to correct a slant of an image to be recorded. When the image signal is electrically processed so as to correct the slant of the image to be recorded, the correction of image slant may be based also on the operating history of the image forming apparatus, for example, the total number of sheets transported, the number of times a paper jam has occurred or the cumulative value of the slant angle of the image.
