    摘要: An exhaust gas purification apparatus for an internal combustion engine capable of lean operation has an Ir-containing selectively reducing catalyst and an NOx adsorptive catalyst. The Ir-containing selectively reducing catalyst in which iridium is an active species thereof and NOx is selectively reduced in a lean atmosphere by HC as a reducer is disposed in an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine. The Ir-containing selectively reducing catalyst is disposed on an upstream side of the exhaust system. The NOx adsorptive catalyst adsorbs NOx in the lean atmosphere and reduce the adsorbed NOx at a theoretical air-fuel ratio or at a rich air-fuel ratio. The NOx adsorptive catalyst is disposed on a downstream side of the exhaust system.

The degradation of combustion state is detected through misfire detection and if it is determined to be degraded, the desired air/fuel ratio, the EGR flow rate and the ignition timing are changed when the engine is operated in the stratified combustion operation mode, while the desired air/fuel ratio, the EGR flow rate and the purge flow rate are changed when the engine is operated in the pre-mixture combustion operation mode, thereby ensuring to suppress the combustion state degradation effectively.

    摘要: There is disclosed a fuel injection control system for an in-cylinder fuel injection internal combustion engine, which is capable of properly determining a fuel injection time period such that the fuel injection time period reflects a fuel pressure and a deposition of fuel, thereby controlling the amount of fuel to be actually injected. Operating conditions of the engine are detected, and a required fuel amount is determined based on the detected operating conditions. At the same time, a deposited-fuel amount, i.e. an amount of fuel deposited in a combustion chamber, is determined based on the detected operating conditions, and the required fuel amount is corrected according to the determined deposited-fuel amount. Further, a fuel pressure of fuel to be injected into the cylinder is detected, and the fuel injection time period is determined by correcting the corrected required fuel amount according to the detected fuel pressure.

    摘要: A fuel metering control system for an internal combustion engine including a feedback loop having an adaptive controller and an adaptation mechanism that estimates a controller parameters .theta.. The adaptive controller corrects the quantity of fuel injection to bring a controlled variable obtained at least based on an output of said air/fuel ratio sensor, to a desired value. The air/fuel ratio sensor outputs are sampled and one of the sampled data is selected as the air/fuel ratio to be input to the adaptation mechanism. Similarly, the senor outputs are sampled and one of the sampled is selected in accordance with another characteristic to be used in the estimation of the air/fuel ratios of the individual cylinder. The air/fuel ratio is discriminated to be within a prescribed range, and set to a predetermined value when it is determined to be within the prescribed range.

    摘要: A malfunction detecting system for an internal combustion engine utilizes an air/fuel ratio feedback control loop. Namely, feedback factors #nKLAF operate to absorb the air/fuel ratio variance between cylinders and to converge the individual cylinders' air/fuel ratios to the confluence point air/fuel ratio, while another feedback factor KLAF operates to converge the confluence point air/fuel ratio to a desired air/fuel ratio, converging all cylinders' air/fuel ratios to the desired air/fuel ratio. With this arrangement, any of the feedback factors #nKLAF for a certain cylinder becomes a prescribed value, it can therefore be assumed that any abnormality would occur in a part such as the fuel injector which would affect the air/fuel ratio in the cylinder concerned. Similarly, if the confluence point air/fuel ratio feedback factor KLAF becomes another prescribed value, it can be assumed that any abnormality would occur in a part such as the fuel pressure system which would affect the air/fuel ratios of all the cylinders. By discriminating these factors, malfunctions can be detected immediately and accurately.

    摘要: The present invention provides a scheme for determining an abnormality of an intake air system with higher accuracy in an engine an intake air amount is controlled by adjusting a lift amount of an intake valve. A throttle opening area is determined based on a current intake air amount. A feedback correction is performed on the throttle opening area. The feedback correction includes determining a correction amount of the throttle opening area such that the gauge pressure inside the intake manifold converges to a desired gauge pressure and then adding the correction amount to the throttle opening area. A feedback control is performed on an air-fuel ratio. The feedback control includes determining a correction amount of the air-fuel ratio based on a detection value of an air-fuel ratio detecting means provided in an exhaust manifold. An abnormality of the intake air system is determined during an idling operation based on the correction amount of the throttle opening area and the correction amount of the air-fuel ratio.
