Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for performing wireless local area network (WLAN) fine timing measurement (FTM) are described. An apparatus for a user equipment (UE) includes a memory to store session information for a long term evolution positioning protocol (LPP) session with a location server. The apparatus for the UE also includes one or more baseband processors to decode a provide assistance data LPP message from the location server as part of the LPP session, the provide assistance data LPP message including WLAN assistance information; identify one or more access points (APs) based on the WLAN assistance information; and determine at least one position measurement based on an FTM procedure with the one or more identified APs.

Abstract: Embodiments of a Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are disclosed herein. The gNB may be configured with a gNB-CU and a gNB-DU. A first paging message for paging of the UE may be received at the gNB-CU from an access management function (AMF) entity. The first paging message may include: a paging identity of the UE; and a paging origin information element (IE) that indicates whether the paging of the UE is originated due to a protocol data unit (PDU) session from non-3GPP access. A second paging message to page the UE may be transmitted from the gNB-DU to the UE. The second paging message may include: the paging identity of the UE; and an access type parameter that indicates whether the paging of the UE is originated due to the PDU session from the non-3GPP access.

Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and/or methods of communicating between a cellular manager and a User Equipment (UE) via a Wireless Local Area network (WLAN) node. For example, an Evolved Node B (eNB) may be configured to communicate with a User Equipment (UE) traffic of at least one Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Radio Access Bearer (E-RAB); to participate in establishment of an IP tunnel with the UE via a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) node; to encapsulate an IP payload comprising downlink traffic of the E-RAB in an IP tunneling packet; and to send the IP tunneling packet to the UE via the IP tunnel.

Abstract: Uplink (UL) data splits between LTE and WLAN can be go supported in cellular networks. The split can be UE controlled or network controlled. Both UE and network controlled bearer split architectures can be supported. The reporting of Uplink Buffer Status (BSR) and the subsequent data allocation can depend on what option is supported by the network. For UE controlled UL data splits, the UE determines a traffic split ratio between LTE and WLAN. The split can be based on local link conditions. For network controlled UL data splits, the network (e.g. a Link Aggregation Scheduler at the eNB) is responsible for making bearer split decisions. The decisions can be based on link qualities, available traffic and quality of service (QoS) requirements of associated users. The split can be based on a per bearer threshold, an eNB configured ratio, or an implicit inference based on a UL grant.

Abstract: A technology for a user equipment (UE) is disclosed that is operable in an anchor-booster architecture of a multiple radio access technology (multi-RAT) heterogeneous network (HetNet). Control information to an anchor cell can be transmitted from a wireless wide area network (WWAN) node in the multi-RAT UE. Data packets of the multi-RAT UE can be selected for transmission via one of the WWAN node and a wireless local area network (WLAN) node in the multi-RAT UE using a multi-RAT coordination function (MRCF) module. Each data packet from one of the WWAN node and the WLAN cell can be transmitted to a multi-RAT small cell evolved node B (SC-eNode B) based on the selection by the MRCF module.

For example, a User Equipment (UE) may include a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) transceiver; a cellular transceiver to communicate traffic of a plurality of Data Radio Bearers (DRBs) via a cellular link between the UE and an evolved Node B (eNB); and a controller to establish at least one Point-to-Point (P2P) link with the eNB via a WLAN link between the UE and a WLAN Access Point (AP), and to steer traffic of one or more of the DRBs from the cellular link to the P2P link.
