    摘要: A method for two-stage combustion in which a mixture of fuel and primary combustion air is burned in a primary combustion zone, the primary combustion air comprising less than a stoichiometric requirement for complete combustion of the fuel, a portion of cooled partial combustion products formed in the primary combustion zone is recirculated from a downstream end of the primary combustion zone to an upstream end of the primary combustion zone, secondary combustion air is introduced into a secondary combustion zone downstream of the primary combustion zone, a portion of the heat from the primary combustion zone is removed, cooling the partial combustion products formed therein, and the heat is transported away from the combustion process. An apparatus for two-stage combustion in accordance with this method is also disclosed.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for thermal treatment and stabilization of waste materials in which waste material is introduced into an uppermost first combustion zone of a vertically oriented combustion chamber and a fuel and an oxidant are tangentially injected into the first combustion zone, oxidizing at least a portion of any organic material in the waste materials and melting at least a portion of any inorganic material in the waste materials. A second portion of fuel and oxidant is injected into a second combustion zone disposed immediately below and in communication with the first combustion zone, melting any remaining inorganic material in the waste material after which the melted waste material is removed from the bottom area of the combustion chamber for disposal.

    摘要: A process for combustion of the combustible material includes introducing the combustible material into the combustion chamber, advancing the combustible material through the combustion chamber, supplying combustion air to the combustion chamber for drying and partially combusting the combustible material and final ash burnout in a primary combustion zone, and removing ash products from the combustion chamber. The fuel or fuel/carrier fluid mixture is supplied into the combustion chamber to create an oxygen deficient secondary combustion zone for NO.sub.x reduction and other nitrogen bearing compounds decomposition. An oxidizing fluid is supplied into the combustion chamber above the oxygen deficient secondary combustion zone for thorough mixing with combustion products and at least partial burnout of combustibles in an oxidizing tertiary combustion zone. A furnace for combustion in accordance with this process is also disclosed wherein a combustion chamber is configured such that combustible material can be advanced from a drying zone, to a combustion zone, to a burnout zone, and then into an ash pit. An air source provides air for drying, combustion and burnout in a primary combustion zone. Fuel or a fuel/carrier fluid mixture is injected above the primary combustion zone to create an oxygen deficient secondary combustion zone, to reduce NO.sub.x and decompose other nitrogen bearing compounds entering the secondary combustion zone. An oxidizing fluid is injected into the combustion chamber above the oxygen deficient secondary combustion zone.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for thermal agglomeration of high melting temperature ashes in fluidized bed processes is disclosed. Carbonaceous material to be combusted, incinerated or gasified is introduced into a fluidized bed supported on a perforated sloping supported grid through which a fluidizing gas is injected. An upflowing discharge control gas is injected through a density/size solids withdrawal conduit in communication with the base of the perforated sloping support grid. Positioned within the solids withdrawal conduit is a central jet pipe through which fuel and oxidant are injected into the base of the fluidized bed forming a hot temperature zone in which ash melts and agglomerates. Positioned above the perforated sloping support grid and peripherally mounted through the reactor wall are one or more burners through which fuel and oxidant are injected into the fluidized bed forming supplemental hot temperature zones in which ash melts and agglomerates. The temperature of the supplemental hot zones is controlled independent of the bulk-bed temperature of the fluidized bed by the amount of fuel injected through the burners and can be maintained substantially higher than the bulk-bed temperature, thereby enabling the agglomeration of higher melting temperature ashes.
