A power-generating device is disclosed that includes a pyroelectric material having first and second surfaces on opposite sides of the pyroelectric material. The device also includes a first conductive electrode coupled to a first support element that is configured to intermittently bring the first electrode into proximity with the first surface and a second conductive electrode proximate to the second surface at least while the first electrode is proximate to the first surface. The device also includes a power module that is electrically coupled between the first and second electrodes. The power module is configured to capture power from an electrical current flowing between the first and second electrodes.

A valve train of an internal combustion engine with at least one camshaft (1) on which at least one rotatable cam (2) is arranged fixed in the axial direction, wherein a rotationally fixed connection of the at least one cam (2) with the camshaft (3) can be selectively established and released by an associated coupling-like locking device (3). So that the valve train has a compact construction and low production costs and nevertheless low wear in operation, it is provided that the locking device (3) is held within the cam (2) and has a spring-loaded, annular locking collar (12) that can move in the axial direction on the camshaft (1) and, as a counter part to the locking collar (12), locking shoes (11, 11′) coupled with the cam (2), wherein, in a locking position, the locking collar (12) is pressed against the locking shoes (11, 11′) by contacting, ramp-shaped boundary surfaces (19, 20) formed on the locking collar (12) and the locking shoes (11, 11′), so that radial projections (15) arranged on the locking shoes (11, 11′) engage in adjacent, pocket-shaped receptacles (16) of the camshaft (2) by a radial force and, in an unlocked position, the locking collar (12) is released from the locking shoes (11, 11′) by a force acting against the radial force.

The invention proposes a switchable support element (1) for a valve train of an internal combustion engine, said support element comprising a housing (2) in whose bore (3) an axially displaceable inner element (4) is received, a coupling means (6) extending in the inner element (4) can be brought partially into engagement with an entraining surface (7) of the housing (2) for achieving coupling, and said support element (1) further comprising at least one vertical stop means (10) that overlaps an annular groove (9) between the inner element (4) and the housing (2) for defining a coupling position of said coupling means (6) with coupling lash relative to said entraining surface (7), the vertical stop means (10) is constituted by at least one thin-walled ring comprising a slot (11), the ring is placed or slipped, slot (11) ahead, onto an outer peripheral surface (12) of the housing (2) to extend parallel to a transverse plane of the support element (1), the housing (2) comprises at least one aperture (13) through which an inner peripheral segment (14) of the ring extends, a longitudinal groove (16) extends in the outer peripheral surface (15) of the inner element (4), and an underside (18) of the inner peripheral segment (14) comes to abut against a lower end (17) of said groove for defining the coupling position.

This invention provides the genes for indeterminate gametophyte (ig1), mutants of ig1, homologs of ig1, and orthologs of ig1, as well as the proteins encoded by these genes. This invention also provides compositions and methods which utilize these genes and proteins. Such methods include the creation of transgenic plants with antisense or expression constructs which comprise a nucleotide sequence derived from ig1.

A valve train for an internal combustion engine is provided, with the valve train having a switchable rocker arm assembly (1) with a plurality of rocker arms (6, 7, 8) for activating at least one gas exchange valve (2), and also having at least one camshaft (3) with differently contoured cams (4, 5) through which different adjusting displacements can be imparted to individual rocker arms of the rocker arm assembly (1). The assembly further includes a switching device (9) for selectively activating the rocker arms for driving the gas exchange valve (2) with a varying valve lift. To create a valve train in which individual gas exchange valves can be operated in different modes of operation with only a small amount of construction work and expense, the rocker arm assembly (1) has a stationary rocker arm shaft (10) on which at least two outer rocker arms (6, 7), that are in continuous contact with associated, differently contoured cams (4, 5), and a center rocker arm (8) with a lever arm extension (11) through which the gas exchange valve (2), in operative connection to one of the two outer rocker arms (6, 7), can be selectively actuated, are mounted for tilting movement.
