Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing a dispersion comprising microfibrillated cellulose and nanoparticles wherein the process comprises the steps; providing a slurry comprising pre-treated cellulose fibers, adding nanoparticles to the slurry and treating the slurry by mechanical disintegration so that a dispersion comprising microfibrillated cellulose is formed in which the nanoparticles are being adsorbed to the surface of the microfibrillated cellulose and/or being adsorbed into the microfibrillated cellulose. The invention further relates to a dispersion produced according to the process, a paper or board product being coated with a coating comprising said dispersion and a paper or board product being produced from said dispersion as well as a composite comprising said dispersion.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for treating cellulose fibres which process comprises the steps of providing a slurry comprising cellulose fibers, adding anionic polyacrylamide (A-PAM) with high molar mass to the slurry in a first step and subjecting the slurry comprising fibers and A-PAM to a mechanical treatment in a second step thereby forming a composition comprising microfibrillated cellulose. The invention further relates to a composition produced according to the process.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for dewatering a web comprising microfibrillated cellulose, wherein the method comprises the steps of: providing a suspension comprising between 50 wt-% to 100 wt-% of microfibrillated cellulose based on total dry weight, forming a fibrous web of said suspension on a support wherein said web has a dry content of 1-25% by weight, applying a dewatering felt into direct contact with the fibrous web, conducting said fibrous web, arranged between said dewatering felt and said support, through at least one shoe press equipment, drying the dewatered web to form a film which film has an Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) value (23° C., 50% RH) below 100 cc/m2/24 h according to ASTM D-3985.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a surface-treated gas barrier film, said method comprising the steps of: a) providing a gas barrier substrate comprising at least 50 wt % of a highly refined cellulose pulp based on dry weight; and b) surface treatment of the gas barrier substrate, wherein the surface treatment comprises treating a surface of the gas barrier substrate with a solution comprising an organic acid and sodium carbonate and drying the gas barrier substrate to obtain a surface-treated gas barrier film. The invention further relates to a surface-treated gas barrier film obtained according to the method and a packaging laminate comprising the surface-treated gas barrier film.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a highly refined cellulose composition, comprising: i) providing a fiber fraction comprising 20-100 wt % fibers obtained from used beverage cartons (UBC) based on the total dry fiber weight of the fiber fraction, ii) optionally subjecting the fiber fraction to mechanical, chemical or enzymatic pre-treatment, or a combination thereof, iii) subjecting the optionally pre-treated fiber fraction to refining at a consistency in the range of 0.5-30% by weight to a Schopper-Riegler (SR) in the range of 50-100, as determined by standard ISO 5267-1, to obtain the highly refined cellulose composition.
Abstract:
A textured film is provided which comprises nanocellulose. At least a first surface of the film comprises a patterned, textured surface formed by repeating protruding regions and at least one non-protruding region arranged between said protruding regions. A particular height difference between the protruding and non-protruding regions can give liquid repellent properties. Methods for making the textured film are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a multi-ply liner for use in corrugated board, said multi-ply liner comprising: a first ply, and a second ply, wherein said first ply comprises at least 70 wt % unbleached kraft pulp and between 5-30 wt % neutral sulfite semi chemical (NSSC) pulp based on dry weight, and wherein said second ply comprises at least 50 wt % NSSC pulp and between 5-50 wt % unbleached kraft pulp based on dry weight.
Abstract:
A method is provided for coating a fibrous web, in particular a fibrous web comprising nanocellulose fibres. The method includes steps of applying a coating agent to a textured surface region of a textured substrate, applying a fibre furnish or a wet fibrous web onto the coated textured surface region of the textured substrate, optionally dewatering to provide a wet fibrous web, and drying said wet fibrous web such that at least a portion of said coating agent is transferred to said fibrous web. The method provides a coated fibrous web with improved barrier properties.
