    摘要: A flexible expandable inter vivos tube includes at least one arched segmented portion, a corresponding movable element and at least one positioning mechanism. The at least one arched segmented portion and corresponding movable element forming a flexible closed longitudinally expandable tube. The at least one arched segment includes an H-shaped connector having at least one cavity that allows variable slidable movement of a free end portion of the corresponding movable element. A flexible membrane is contained in the at least one cavity so that the hydraulic or air pressure within an inner rib of the H-shaped connector expands the movable element and, thus, the circumference of the flexible inter vivos tube are increased. The flexible membrane attached to the free end portion limits the travel of the movable element within a corresponding one of the at least one cavity.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to, in one aspect, a medical apparatus having a nasogastric tube with hypopharyngeal suctioning capability. In one embodiment, the medical apparatus has a flexible nasogastric tube for insertion through a patient's nose. The nasogastric tube has a first end defining a first opening, a distal, second end that defines a second opening, and a length sufficient to allow the second opening to be positioned in a patient's stomach. The medical apparatus also has a flexible oropharyngeal tube for insertion through a patient's mouth. The oropharyngeal tube has a first end and a distal, second end that defines a suction intake. The oropharyngeal tube has a length that is less than the length of the nasogastric tube and which allows the suction intake to be positioned in a patient's hypopharynx region. In another embodiment of the invention, the medical apparatus has a laryngeal mask with hypopharyngeal suctioning capability.

    摘要: A measured suction system utilizes a tracheostomy tube apparatus includes a tracheostomy tube, Tracheostomy collar, and swivel adapter. The tracheotomy tube includes an internal channel within the Tracheostomy tube allowing for all suctioning of the patient. The system will insure that all negative suction pressure is maintained within the Tracheostomy tube, which eliminates any trauma that may be caused by using excessive negative suction pressures when the standard methods of suctioning are employed. The new system also reduces the risk of infection caused by using the sterile invasive suction techniques.
