    摘要: The end of the elongated tubular element of the appliance that is designed to be inserted into a body cavity or vessel is formed entirely of soft, compliant material. That end carries an inflatable balloon formed in its fully inflated shape. The balloon is inflated to a predetermined low pressure level to prevent pressure necrosis in the adjacent tissue. A method and apparatus for introducing the soft end of the appliance into the body cavity are also provided. The introducer apparatus includes rigid core surrounded by a soft, compliant sleeve. The sleeve extends beyond the rigid core to form an invertable section. The soft end of the appliance is situated adjacent the apparatus, the balloon is wrapped around the apparatus, and the sleeve section is inverted over the appliance, compressing the balloon and forming a soft, rounded insertion tip. The unit is then introduced into the body cavity. After the appliance is separated from the apparatus, the apparatus is withdrawn.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to a speculum assembly for single-use in colon lavage therapy. The speculum assembly comprises a tubular body to which a tubing-set is attached. The tubular body has a leading end, a middle portion, and a trailing end. The leading end has a tapering body transitioning into a tip, a scallop opening adjacent to the tip, and at least one annular rib about the tubular body, positioned between the scallop opening and the middle portion. The middle portion has a flange. The flange is in communication with a portion of an irrigation tube. The trailing end of the tubular body comprises a handle that selectively retains a portion of the irrigation tube and attaches to a portion of a waste hose, elements of the tubing set.

    摘要: A sphincter valve for controlling the flow of fluid through a fluid delivery line has a body molded of a unitary piece of substantially flexible silicone material. The body is formed with an outer shell, and interior tube disposed within said outer shell, an end portion, and a pressure chamber defined between the outer shell and the interior tube. A separate end cap is secured to and closes the end of the body opposite the end portion thereof and a central passageway extends through the interior tube and through the ends of the valve. In use, the valve is spliced in a fluid delivery line and the pressure chamber is coupled to a source of selectively deliverable pressurized air. When pressurized air is forced into the pressure chamber, the inward force created by the pressure collapses the interior tube onto itself shutting off flow through the valve.

    摘要: A dissolvable tip 20 or 40 for a colon hydrotherapy speculum system 100 that replaces the function of an obturator. The dissolvable tip 20 or 40 is made of a body of dissolvable material wherein a surface of the tip 20 or 40 is inserted and snugly fit into an inserting end 17 of a speculum 10 while another surface of the tip 20 or 40 with the speculum 10 is inserted into the anal, rectal, or colon canal 91 of a patient 90. The dissolvable tip 20 or 40 is held at the inserting end 17 of the speculum 10. One embodiment of the present invention discloses the dissolvable tip 20 as a pill shaped and egg shaped tip. Another embodiment of the present invention discloses the dissolvable tip 40 as similar in shape to dissolvable tip 20, but the dissolvable tip 40 further has a circumferential bulge 44 in its body wherein the circumferential bulge 44 has an edge that contacts the perimeter of the inserting end 17 of speculum 10 to allow a further snug attachment between the dissolvable tip 40 and the speculum 10. The colon hydrotherapy machine 130 of system 100 allows inlet washing fluid to flow from the machine 130 through the hose 110 and speculum 10 and to the tip 20 or 40 so that the tip 20 or 40 dissolves into the patient and inlet washing fluid flows into a colon area of the patient that is to be cleaned. Outlet fluid is able to flow from the colon area, through outlet end 18 of speculum 10, and through outlet hose 120. The material used to make the dissolvable tip 20 or 40 can have the further properties or characteristics of a deodorizer or a disinfectant or can function as a laxative or a type of medicine that helps the colon or rectal area of a patient 90. Tips 20 and 40 can also be made to be a natural product (i.e. made of herbs and other such components) that can be easily dissolved within the patient without any serious risks or hazards to the patient.
