Abstract:
Elevator coated ropes or belts are disclosed. The coated rope or belt may include at least one cord and a jacket retaining the at least one cord. The cord may include a plurality of filaments. The filaments are free of second-order helical structure. In a first embodiment, the filaments includes at least one inner filament and a plurality of outer filaments surrounding the at least one inner filament. The outer filaments are bunched together by forming a first-order helical structure through the length of the cord. In a second general embodiment, the filaments are free of both first- and second-order helical structures. The filaments are bunched together by a restraining loop or adhesive at one or more locations along the length of the cord. Methods of making the tension cord are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method for producing a strand or cable, in which fibers and/or wires are twisted at a twisting point to form the strand or cable. The fibers and/or wires are coated with a liquefied matrix material before and/or at the twisting point and are embedded in the matrix material during twisting. The fibers and/or wires are immersed in the matrix material before and/or at the twisting point and the formed strand or the formed cable is cooled after the twisting in order for the matrix material to solidify, preferably by air or in a cooling liquid, for example water.

Abstract:
A metal cord has an M+N construction with two concentric layers. An internal first layer or core includes M wire(s) of diameter d1, M having a value from 1 to 4. An external second layer includes N wires of diameter d2 and is positioned around the core, the N wires being wound in a helix. Between the wires of the two layers are gaps, some or all of which include a filling rubber based on an unsaturated thermoplastic elastomer. The filling rubber may be, for example, based on an SBS or an SIS block copolymer. When used in a molten state, the thermoplastic elastomer presents no problem due to unwanted stickiness if the filling rubber overspills outside the cord after manufacture. The unsaturated and therefore (co)vulcanizable nature of the thermoplastic elastomer makes it compatible with diene rubber matrices used as calendering rubber in metal fabrics intended for reinforcing tires.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a metal cord with two concentric layers of wires is provided. The cord includes an internal layer of M wires, M having a value from 1 to 4, and an external layer of N wires. The cord is rubberized from within in situ. That is, during manufacture of the cord, the cord is rubberized from inside. According to the method, the internal layer is sheathed with rubber or a rubber compound by passing the internal layer through an extrusion head, and the N wires of the external layer are assembled around the sheathed internal layer to form a two-layer cord rubberized from the inside. The rubber is an unsaturated thermoplastic elastomer that is extruded in a molten state, and preferably is a thermoplastic styrene (TPS) type of thermoplastic elastomer, such as an SBS or an SIS block copolymer, for example.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tire having a radial carcass reinforcement, consisting of at least one layer of metal reinforcing elements, said tire including a top reinforcement, which is covered radially with a tread, said tread being joined to two beads via two sidewalls. According to the invention, the reinforcing elements of at least one carcass reinforcement layer are metal cables which, in the so-called permeability test, have a flow rate less than 20 cm3/mn and at least 10% of said metal cables are banded by a strand consisting of multifilament textile fibers.
Abstract:
A metal cord is rubberized in situ by a rubber composition that includes a styrene-butadiene copolymer. The styrene-butadiene copolymer includes styrene units at a proportion of between 25% and 35% by weight, limits included, of a total weight of the styrene-butadiene copolymer. The styrene-butadiene copolymer also includes trans-1,4-bonds at a proportion of between 73% and 83% by weight, limits included, of a total weight of a butadiene part of the styrene-butadiene copolymer.
Abstract:
A composite reinforcer capable of adhering directly to a diene rubber matrix, which can be used in particular as a reinforcing element for a tyre, comprises: one or more reinforcing thread(s), for example a thread or cord made of carbon steel; and a layer of a polymer composition which covers the said thread, individually each thread or collectively several threads, this layer comprising at least one thermoplastic polymer, the glass transition temperature of which is positive, such as, for example, a polyamide, a poly(p-phenylene ether) and a functionalized diene elastomer, such as, for example, natural rubber or a butadiene homopolymer or copolymer, bearing functional groups chosen from epoxide, carboxyl, acid anhydride or acid ester groups. A process for the manufacture of such a composite reinforcer, and a finished article or semi-finished product made of rubber, in particular a tyre, incorporating such a composite reinforcer are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A double rustproof PC strand has superior durability and semi-permanent rustproof performance. A core wire and surrounding wires are formed of wires subjected to a wire drawing treatment and a plating treatment to be formed with a plated layer. A rustproof treatment is applied by forming a synthetic resin coat on an outer peripheral surface thereof. In order to uniformize and regulate the twisting pitch, the core wire and the surrounding wires are adjusted under the conditions of: (A) Diameter of CORE: 4.42±0.05 mm, Diameter of Surrounding wire: 4.25±0.05 mm, (B) Diameter of CORE: 5.22±0.05 mm, Diameter of Surrounding wire: 5.06±0.05 mm, or (C) Diameter of CORE: 5.40±0.05 mm, Diameter of Surrounding wire: 5.25±0.05 mm, and then twisted, and the tensile strength is 1850 N/mm2 or higher.
