Abstract:
According to the invention, a hand held sprayer is provided. Fluid flows from a reservoir to a delivery passageway upon pulling or pressing an actuator such as an aerosol actuator or button, a trigger or finger pump button. A nozzle having an inlet and an outlet is rotatably mounted to the outlet of the delivery passageway. The nozzle rotates about a rotation axis through the center of the discharge end of the nozzle. The actuator of the hand held sprayer is interconnected to the rotatably mounted nozzle to provide rotation of the nozzle simultaneously with the dispensing of the liquid from the reservoir to the atmosphere. The nozzle rotates from about 90.degree. to 360.degree. about the axis of rotation. The resulting hand held sprayer is capable of dispensing viscous liquids having a viscosity of over 60 cps and delivering a desirable round spray pattern.
Abstract:
A hand holdable spray delivery system for dispensing a relatively viscous and/or solids laden liquid is provided. This spray delivery system includes a container adapted to house the liquid. A manually actuated pump device is mounted on the container. The pump device including an inlet passage, a pump chamber, and a discharge passage having a distal end connected in liquid communication so that the liquid is pumped from within the container, through the inlet passage, into the pump chamber and through the discharge passage upon manual actuation of the pump device. A slotted spray nozzle including a housing having an inlet side and an exit side is also included. The housing having an internal recess through the inlet side that terminates in an elongated orifice at the exit side. The internal recess being attached in liquid communication to the distal end of the discharge passage such that the liquid passing through the discharge passage flows through the slotted spray nozzle and converges toward the elongated orifice. The liquid is dispensed therefrom in a dispersed spray. The slotted spray nozzle can be made of a rigid material or an elastomeric material. A fan shaped dispersed spray pattern is generated when the nozzle is made using a rigid material, however, when an elastomeric material is utilized, the nozzle is capable of ejecting particles larger than the smallest dimension of the elongated orifice, thereby substantially reducing the likelihood of clogging. Several versions of the spray delivery system are illustrated, including a trigger operated sprayer and a reciprocating finger pump.
Abstract:
An airless paint sprayer includes an outlet check valve assembly having a dual spring configuration which allows for increased fluid flow through the valve without diminishing response time of the valve or the priming operations of the system. One of the springs is not engaged when the valve is closed and the other spring has a much lower spring rate and biases the valve toward a closed configuration when the valve is open, closed, and all positions therebetween. The dual spring configuration accommodates highly viscous fluids or paints with maximum fluid flow and no detrimental impact on the priming operations of the sprayer.
Abstract:
A fluid dispenser for simultaneously dispensing disparate fluids separately stored in separate fluid compartments of a container includes a single pump cylinder defining together with a dual seal piston a pair of in-line pump chambers for separately and simultaneously pumping the disparate fluids along separate discharge paths.
Abstract:
The construction of a nozzle head for a trigger sprayer apparatus and the constructions of several variant embodiments of fluid spinners that are assembled into the nozzle head facilitate the assembly of the spinners into the nozzle head with fluid swirl chambers of the spinners centered relative to a fluid discharge orifice of the nozzle head. The swirl chamber of each spinner assembly is surrounded by an annular wall and the end face of the annular wall engages against a flat orifice wall surrounding the sprayer discharge orifice thereby sealing the swirl chamber around the orifice. Tangential grooves through the annular wall provide the only path of fluid flow into the swirl chamber.
Abstract:
A trigger actuated fluid dispenser for simultaneously dispensing disparate fluids separately stored in separate fluid compartments of a container includes side-by-side pump cylinders receiving side-by-side pump pistons reciprocable simultaneously during each pressure stroke applied by a single trigger lever for separately and simultaneously pumping the disparate fluids along separate discharge paths.
Abstract:
Liquid dispensing devices provided with tilting or bending pickup tubes for allowing substantially complete evacuation of the contents of the supply bottles. In preferred embodiments, the pickup tube is connected to a dispensing unit such as a sprayhead by a variety of different types of flexible connectors to allow tilting of the pickup tube. In other preferred embodiments, a semi-flexible pickup tube is weighted to cause bending of the tube with or without the addition of a flexible connector between the pickup tube and sprayhead.
Abstract:
A method of dispensing, issuing, or diffusing a liquid (volatile or otherwise) without using a propellant gas, the liquid being a perfume, a cosmetic, an insecticide, or a medicine, for example. The method consists in using a pump type spray head where a liquid is sprayed by being expelled under pressure through a nozzle, and being characterized by the use of a mechanical device during the expulsion stage for obtaining an instantaneous pressure which causes a dose or a spray to be delivered comparable to an aerosol of the type obtained when using a compressed or liquefied propellant gas i.e. an aerosol in which the particles of divided liquid are not greater than 45 microns in size in the liquid phase, and are less than 1 micron in the gas phase, after spraying has occurred, and without spoiling the sprayed substances. The invention also relates to an exclusive or protective system which is personalized by encoding-decoding means that may be mechanical, electronic, or both, assisted by means of an audio-electronic speech synthesis system.
Abstract:
Liquid delivery apparatus includes a container 138 for the liquid, the container 138 having a liquid outlet 150 for dispensing the liquid and a vent hole 53 for admitting air to the container 138 to replace dispensed liquid. The vent hole 53 is closed by a closure element 56 which is removable to expose the vent hole 53. When fitting the container 138 to a delivery device 2, the closure element 56 engages the delivery device 2 so as to remove the closure element 36 automatically to cause the vent hole 53 to be exposed.
Abstract:
An automatic spray can for spraying liquids is described, comprising a hong (1), in which an energy store (2), an electric motor (3) and a pump (6) for producing compressed air with a suction joint (7) and a pressure joint (8) are located, a product container (9) in engagement with the housing (1), with a spray head (14) including a spray nozzle (15) arranged at its top aperture (18), and an air feed pipe (13) between the pressure joint (8) of the pump (6) and the interior of the product container (9).To make such a spray can smaller and lighter, and to enable a constant flow of spray jet with a uniform particle size to be produced with convenient operation, it is proposed according to the invention that the product container (9) be arranged as an extension of the housing (1), and the pump (6) be in the form of a vane type rotary pump, arranged at the upper end of the housing (1), with the air feed pipe (13) preferably extending over the whole length of the container.
