摘要: In a method of compaction of a powder (P) by means of nip rollers the powder (P) is transported at a supply speed to the nip rollers and friction between at least one of the nip rollers and the powder (P) at said nip roller is determined. Depending on the friction the rotational speed of at least one of the nip rollers is adjusted. The supply speed of the powder (P) to the nip rollers as well as the distance between the nip rollers are maintained substantially constant.

摘要: Multi-layer bags may be formed to include first and second sidewalls joined along a first side edge, an opposite second side edge, and a closed bottom edge. The first and second layers may be non-continuously laminated together in discrete sections to include bonded regions in which the layers are bonded and unbonded regions in which the layers are not bonded. Such a bag may be described as a “bag-in-a-bag” type configuration in which the inner bag is non-continuously bonded to the outer bag. The inventors have surprisingly found that such configurations of non-continuous bonding provides increased and unexpected strength properties to the multi-layer films and bags.

摘要: A method of producing a metal strip or shape from powdered metal in which the transverse cross-section of the strip or shape so produced has portions of different thickness, wherein a thick portion is positioned adjacent of a thin portion or thick portions are positioned adjacent to thin portions, and, after proper sintering, the multi-thickness strip is rolled and annealed to reduce the strip's weight per foot, thus developing the required dimensional and mechanical properties.

摘要: A mass of finely divided material is confined in a chamber. Two rollers are arranged for rotation in the chamber in axial parallelism with one another and define with each other a narrow longitudinally extending gap. At least one of the rollers has a circumferential wall composed of gas-permeable porous material. This one roller is hollow and arranged to communicate with a source of underpressure so that, as the roller rotates, the particulate material is attracted onto its outer surface forming a layer thereon which is subjected to substantial compaction when it passes through the gap between the two rollers. The rollers rotate in opposite direction. The compacted material is removed from the outer surface of the roller or rollers and subdivided into portions of desired size. A method of processing the particulate material, and a roller for use in the apparatus are also disclosed.
