Depending on the friction the rotational speed of at least one of the nip rollers is adjusted. The supply speed of the powder (P) to the nip rollers as well as the distance between the nip rollers are maintained substantially constant.

    摘要: A mass of finely divided material is confined in a chamber. Two rollers are arranged for rotation in the chamber in axial parallelism with one another and define with each other a narrow longitudinally extending gap. At least one of the rollers has a circumferential wall composed of gas-permeable porous material. This one roller is hollow and arranged to communicate with a source of underpressure so that, as the roller rotates, the particulate material is attracted onto its outer surface forming a layer thereon which is subjected to substantial compaction when it passes through the gap between the two rollers. The rollers rotate in opposite direction. The compacted material is removed from the outer surface of the roller or rollers and subdivided into portions of desired size. A method of processing the particulate material, and a roller for use in the apparatus are also disclosed.
