Abstract: A brushless motor includes a stator and a rotor rotatably received within the stator, the rotor including a rotor shaft, a rotor body mounted on the rotor shaft and including axial slots, permanent magnets disposed within the axial slots, and a rotor end cap provided at an end of the rotor body to axially retain the permanent magnets within the slots. The rotor end cap includes an outer planar portion that is in contact with the end of the rotor body, and ribs angularly extending from the outer planar portion towards a center portion forming openings therebetween to allow passage of air between adjacent openings in thermal contact with the end of the rotor body.

Abstract: A magnetizing method includes the steps of preparing a rotor comprising a rotor core having a magnet insertion hole and a permanent magnet provided in the magnet insertion hole, placing the rotor so as to face a tooth around which a winding is wound, rotating the rotor in a first rotating direction by a first angle θ1 from a rotational position where a center of the magnet insertion hole in a circumferential direction of the rotor core faces a middle portion between both ends of the winding in the circumferential direction and supplying electric current to the winding, and rotating the rotor in a second rotating direction opposite to the first rotating direction by a second angle θ2 from the rotational position direction and supplying electric current to the winding. The second angle θ2 is smaller than the first angle θ1.

Abstract: A flux directed magnet and a method of manufacturing a flux-directed magnet in a reduced number of process steps is described and claimed. The present invention is, in an embodiment, a single-step manufacturing of flux directed magnet assemblies such as, but not limited to, Halbach arrays of arbitrary multipole order. Even tube-shaped flux directed magnet assemblies such as Halbach arrays with large aspect ratio, i.e. length to diameter, can be produced in single steps using the method of the invention. Alternatively, the present invention may be one step of a plurality of steps in a process for manufacturing of flux directed magnet assemblies.

Abstract: A magnetic core of an electric motor includes a central portion and a plurality of teeth extending outwardly from the central portion, the teeth disposed along a circumferential direction of the central portion. Each tooth includes a tooth body, two neck portions and two crown portions, the neck portions respectively connecting the crown portions to the tooth body, the two crown portions respectively extending beyond opposite sides of the tooth body. Each of the two neck portions of each tooth has a minimum width which is 0.1˜0.3 times of the width of the tooth body. The present invention further provides an electric motor that employs the magnetic core which can increase the peak value of the cogging torque of the motor.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a permanent magnet rotor is provided. The permanent magnet rotor includes at least one permanent magnet and a substantially cylindrical rotor core including an outer edge and an inner edge defining a central opening. Abstract: A permanent magnet buried type electric motor includes a rotator having a rotator core and a stator. The rotator core includes: a plurality of magnet accommodating holes formed as many as the number of poles; a plurality of permanent magnets; air holes through which a coolant and a refrigerant oil pass; and a fastening hole. The magnet accommodating hole is formed into a shape that projects toward a radially inner side and is recessed toward a radially outer side. The air hole portions and the fastening holes are arranged so as to be alternately positioned. The air hole portion is formed into such a shape that includes a portion extending in an arc shape along an outer peripheral surface of a rotary shaft in a circumferential direction of the rotator core so that an area of the air hole portion is larger than an area of the fastening hole.
