Abstract: An exhaust treatment system includes first and second exhaust conduits positioned on opposite ends of an exhaust treatment device. The exhaust treatment device includes a housing having a first outer diameter at a first end and a different second outer diameter at a second end. A clamp includes an inner surface engaging both the first exhaust conduit and the exhaust treatment device when the exhaust treatment device is positioned with its first end adjacent to the first exhaust conduit. The inner surface of the clamp is spaced apart from one of the housing and the exhaust treatment device when the second end of the exhaust treatment device is adjacent the first exhaust conduit.

Abstract: A shock absorber for a vehicle may include a piston and a valve disc assembly. The piston defines a plurality of passages extending through the piston between an upper working chamber and a lower working chamber of a fluid chamber. The valve disc assembly engages the piston and controls a flow of fluid between the upper working chamber and the lower working chamber through the plurality of passages. The valve disc assembly includes a variable radius spring disc among a plurality of discs. The variable radius spring disc has a varying outer radius. The valve disc assembly has a stiffness that varies circumferentially based on the variable radius spring disc such that an actuation of the valve disc assembly with respect to the piston varies circumferentially.

Abstract: An aftertreatment system for treating exhaust gas discharged from a combustion engine may include a particulate filter, a reductant-injection system, an ammonia sensor and a control module. The particulate filter may be configured to filter exhaust gas discharged from the combustion engine. The reductant-injection system may be configured to inject a reductant into a stream of the exhaust gas upstream of the particulate filter. The ammonia sensor may be configured to sense a concentration of ammonia in the stream of exhaust gas downstream of the particulate filter. The control module may be in communication with the ammonia sensor and may determine a soot load of the particulate filter based on data received from the ammonia sensor.

Abstract: A system for treating the exhaust output by an internal combustion engine includes a regeneration positioned upstream from a diesel particulate filter. The regeneration unit combusts a fuel to heat the exhaust entering the diesel particulate filter. An air pump supplies a secondary source of compressed air to the regeneration unit and is adapted to be driven by the internal combustion engine. A speed sensor is coupled to the air pump and operable to output a signal indicative of a rotational speed of an air pump component. A controller receives the speed sensor signal and determines an operating speed of the internal combustion engine based on the speed sensor signal. The controller controls the regeneration unit based on the engine operating speed.
