    Abstract: A pallet-sized shipping and display tray includes a base portion having an interior space and opposed sides ends. The respective spaced-apart first and second vertical columns each of which is configured to be positioned in the opposed ends of the interior space of the base portion. Each of the respective first and second spaced-apart vertical columns includes two shoulder panels, two coterminous spine panels, and two arm panels all of which are foldably joined to one another. At least one deck is configured to be attached to the respective spaced-apart first and second vertical columns to form a bridge. The at least one deck includes a supporting panel having two side depending flanges and two end depending flanges all of which foldably joined to one another so as to adequately support a weight of one or more upper display trays when they are stacked upon one another.

    Abstract: A folded blank for forming a display case and a display case formed from the folded blank. The folded blank comprises a one-piece blank including a first side panel, a front panel, a second side panel and a back panel connected in series at respective first, second and third vertical fold lines. The first side panel is folded about the first vertical fold line and is engaged on a first portion of the front panel at a first manufacturer's joint strip. The back panel is folded about the third fold line and has a second manufacturer's joint strip engaged on the first side panel. The first portion forms a tear-away section defined by at least one separation line on the front panel. The first manufacturer's joint strip retains the tear-away section in engagement with the first side panel during erection of the folded blank to form the display case having a display window and a front display case lip.

    Abstract: Collecting roll data associated with a sensing roll and a mating roll forming a nip includes generating sensor signals from a first sensor array on the sensing roll and a second sensor array on the mating roll during rotations of the mating rolls and sensing rolls. A periodically occurring first time reference is associated with each rotation of the mating roll and a periodically occurring second time reference is associated with each rotation of the sensing roll. For a received sensor signal, based on whether the received signal is from the sensors of the mating roll or the sensing roll, a tracking segment on the other roll is detected that enters a region of the nip concurrent with the sensor that generated the received signal. The detection is made from either a most-recent-identified first time reference or second time reference. The received signal can then be stored using the detected tracking segment.

    Abstract: An article in the form of a printable substrate having a showthrough value of about 0.14 or less, and an opacity value of at least about 88% which includes a paper substrate with a first and second surfaces formed of paper fibers having a basis weight of from about 12 to about 32 lbs/1300 ft2, and a substrate filler in an amount in the range of from 0 to about 30% by weight of the paper substrate; and a surface size layer on at least one of the first and second surfaces, the surface size layer having about 50 lbs or less per ton of the paper substrate of a starch surface sizing agent and a multivalent metal salt drying agent in an amount sufficient to impart to the at least one of the first and second surfaces a black print density value of at least about 0.8 when inkjet printed with pigmented inks and a waterfastness value of at least about 85% when inkjet printed with dye-based inks, the printable substrate having a MD tensile strength of at least about 12 lbs/in. and a CD tensile strength of at least about 6 lbs/in. Also, a method for preparing such a printable substrate.

    Abstract: A sensor signal is generated from a plurality of sensors located on a sensing roll, wherein each signal is generated when each sensor enters a first nip between the sensing roll and a rotating component during each rotation of the sensing roll. A rotating applicator rod forms forming a second nip with the sensing roll such that each sensor enters the second nip during each rotation of the sensing roll. A periodically occurring starting reference is generated associated with each rotation of the applicator rod and the signal generated by each sensor is received so that a particular one of the sensors which generated the signal is determined and one of a plurality of tracking segments is identified. The signal is stored to associate the sensor signal with the identified one tracking segment.
