Abstract: Several embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to medical visualization systems that comprise combinations of disposable and reusable components, such as catheters, functional handles, hubs, optical devices, etc. Other embodiments of the present invention are generally directed to features and aspects of an in-vivo visualization system that comprises an endoscope having a working channel through which a catheter having viewing capabilities is routed. the catheter may obtain viewing capabilities by being constructed as a vision catheter or by having a fiberscope or other viewing device selectively routed through one of its channels. The catheter is preferably of the steerable type so that the distal end of the catheter may be steered from its proximal end as it is advanced with the body. A suitable use for the in-vivo visualization system includes but is not limited to diagnosis and/or treatment of the duodenum, and particularly the biliary tree.

Abstract: A flexible outer sleeve 70, 170 (partially shown in FIGS. 2 and 7) may be disposed on the outside of the articulation mechanism 10 to provide a smooth exterior surface. The outer sleeve 70, 170 can be made from soft, thin polyurethane, LLDPE, silicon, pellethane, polyurethane, or other approved biocompatible materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl alcohol. Additionally, the outer sleeve 70, 170 can be coated with a hydrophilic, lubricious coating such as HYDROPASS™ hydrophilic coating available from Boston Scientific Corporation, of Natick, Mass., and described in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,702,754 and 6,048,620, which are herein incorporated by reference. Additionally, the outer sleeve 70, 170 can be coated with a drug agent to treat internal body tissues.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a medical device includes a first arm portion, a second arm portion and a base portion. The first arm portion has an inner surface and an outer surface. The second arm portion has a tissue piercing portion at a distal end, an inner surface and an outer surface. The base portion extends between the first arm portion and the second arm portion. Abstract: A fluid management system includes a pump configured to pump fluid through the system at a fluid flow rate. The system includes a processor including a user interface, the user interface allowing a user to input a set of system operating parameters, the processor being configured to control the pump to maintain a target fluid flow rate based on the set of system operating parameters. The system further includes a scope device coupled to the pump to deliver the fluid to a target surgical site, the scope device including an elongated shaft extending from a distal end thereof, the elongated shaft including at least one sensor, the at least one sensor transmitting sensor data relating to the target surgical site to the processor. The processor automatically signals to the pump to adjust the fluid flow rate based on the sensor data.

Abstract: A method for identifying material to be removed from a patient may use an imaging device, a display, a control unit, and an insertion device. The method may include obtaining a first set of image data from the imaging device, sending the first set of image data to the control unit from the imaging device, and analyzing the first set of image data based on at least one of a darkness, a contrast, or a saturation. The method may include generating a coded image identifying the material to be removed from the patient to be displayed on the display. The method may further include displaying the coded image on a first screen of the display, and indicating the material to be removed with the insertion device based on the displayed coded image.

The device may comprise: a handle body extending along an axis between first end and a second end; an actuator at the first end of the handle body; a catheter at the second end of the handle body; and a processing unit communicable with a plurality of devices to: switch-in the actuator for control of one device of the plurality of devices; configure, with the actuator, a setting of the one device, control, with the actuator, the one device based on the setting, and switch-in the actuator for control of another one of the plurality of devices.
