Abstract: Outer skirts for a prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. As one example, a prosthetic heart valve can include an annular frame and an outer skirt disposed around an outer surface of the frame. The outer skirt can include a first portion comprising a polymeric material and a second portion comprising a fabric, where the polymeric material has a greater thromboresistance than the fabric. Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve includes an annular frame including a plurality of strut members, the frame being radially collapsible to a collapsed configuration and radially expandable to an expanded configuration. A leaflet structure is situated at least partially within the frame, the leaflet structure including a plurality of leaflets, each leaflet having opposing commissure tab portions on opposite sides of the leaflet, each commissure tab portion being paired with an adjacent commissure tab portion of an adjacent leaflet to form a commissure, the commissure tab portions of each leaflet being folded such that each commissure tab portion forms a plurality of layers. A reinforcement member of a plurality of reinforcement members is positioned between the layers of each commissure tab portion. Each commissure tab portion of each leaflet is positioned entirely within the frame.

Abstract: Assembly methods for installing a leaflet assembly to an expandable frame of a prosthetic heart valve are described. The leaflet assembly comprises a plurality of leaflets coupled together at adjacent tabs, which form respective commissure tab assemblies. The commissure tab assemblies are inserted into corresponding windows of support members of the expandable frame. One or more wedge members are inserted into the commissure tab assembly, e.g., between the adjacent tabs or with the adjacent tabs therebetween, to restrain radial motion of the commissure tab assembly with respect to the window. The window can be a closed window, and the wedge member insertion can be after the commissure tab assembly is inserted into the window. Alternatively, the window can be an open window or channel, and the wedge member insertion can be before the commissure tab assembly is installed in the window.

Abstract: Embodiments of a radially collapsible and expandable prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. A prosthetic heart valve includes a valve structure and a frame. The valve structure includes a plurality of leaflets, and the leaflets are configured to move from an open configuration to a closed configuration. The valve structure is coupled to the frame. The frame includes an inflow end, an outflow end, a longitudinal axis extending from the inflow end to the outflow end, and a plurality of struts forming a plurality of rows of cells. Each row of cells extends in a circumferential direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Adjacent cells in a row of cell are coupled together at a junction of the struts defining the adjacent cells, and at least one junction in one row of cells has a shape that is different than at least one other junction of the one row of cells.

Abstract: A system can include a delivery catheter comprising a balloon and an implantable prosthetic heart valve. The prosthetic valve can have a plastically expandable and compressible unitary frame comprising a plurality of circumferentially extending rows of angled struts, including first, second, and third rows of angled struts forming rows of diamond-shaped cells, and a valvular structure comprising a plurality of leaflets. A cusp edge portion of each leaflet is connected to the frame by a skirt that is disposed between the frame and the cusp edge portions, the skirt being sutured to selected struts of the frame along diagonal paths extending from an inflow end portion toward an outflow end portion. Each diagonal path along which the skirt is sutured to the frame extends along the first, second, and third rows of angled struts.

Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve comprises an annular frame comprising a plurality of interconnected struts, wherein the frame is radially compressible and expandable between a radially compressed state and a radially expanded state. A plurality of leaflets are situated within the frame, each leaflet comprising a main body, two opposing commissure tabs arranged on opposite sides of the main body and two opposing sub-commissure tabs arranged on opposite sides of the main body. Abstract: A leaflet assembly for a prosthetic heart valve is disclosed. As one example, a method includes: forming a plurality of leaflet sub-assemblies, each including a leaflet and a skirt and formed by placing the skirt on one side of the leaflet such that the skirt extends along a curved cusp edge portion and two commissure tabs of the leaflet, folding two end portions of the skirt around corresponding commissures tabs, stitching each folded end portion to a corresponding commissure tab to form a respective half commissure portion, and stitching the skirt to the cusp edge portion and forming the leaflet assembly by pairing each half commissure portion of each leaflet sub-assembly with a half commissure portion of another leaflet sub-assembly to form a plurality of pairs of adjacent half commissure portions, and for each pair, stitching the adjacent half commissure portions to each other to form a commissure.
