Abstract: A head up display (HUD) system within a vehicle includes a controller adapted to initialize HUD graphics to be displayed by the HUD system within the vehicle, a projector adapted to project HUD graphics within a field of view of the HUD system onto an inner surface of a windshield of the vehicle, and a monitoring system adapted to collect real-time data of a head position and gaze direction of an occupant within the vehicle, wherein, the controller is further adapted to adapt the displayed HUD graphics, displayed by the HUD system, based on the real-time data of the head position and gaze direction of the occupant.

Abstract: A head-up display system includes a first plurality of on-board sensors adapted to detect vehicle driving characteristics, a wireless communication module adapted to receive information from external sources, a driver monitoring system adapted to track a driver's eyes, and a controller in electronic communication with the first plurality of on-board sensors and the wireless communication module, the controller adapted to determine if the vehicle is performing a parking maneuver, and, when the vehicle is performing a parking maneuver, to capture images of an environment surrounding the vehicle, detect objects within the environment, identify location markers for a parking space and objects within the environment surrounding the vehicle adjacent to the parking space, determine the position of the vehicle relative to the identified location markers and objects, and display, with a projection module a parking assist graphic adapted to provide guidance to a driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A collision warning system notifies an occupant of a vehicle about a predicted collision between the vehicle and an object moving relative to the vehicle. The system includes an object input device, a vehicle input device, and a road detection module for generating a road signal associated with a road geometry that is visible through the windshield and located within a field of view of the occupant. The system further includes an ARHUD for generating multiple images upon the windshield and overlaid onto the road geometry. The system further includes a computer including a processor and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions. The processor is programmed to determine a predicted collision between the object and the vehicle at a predicted time. The processor is further programmed to generate an actuation signal for actuating the ARHUD to generate the images upon the windshield and overlaid onto the road geometry.

Abstract: A hybrid augmented reality head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle includes a windscreen having a transparent substrate including light emitting particles dispersed within, a primary graphic projection device for generating a first set of images upon the windscreen of the vehicle based on visible light, and a secondary graphic projection device for generating a second set of images upon a secondary area the windscreen of the vehicle based on an excitation light. The first set of images are displayed upon a primary area of the windscreen. The light emitting particles in the windscreen emit visible light in response to absorbing the excitation light. The first set of images displayed upon the primary area of the windscreen cooperate with the second set of images displayed upon the secondary area of the windscreen to create an edge-to-edge augmented reality view.

Abstract: A system for detecting external leaks in a cabin of a vehicle includes sensors and onboard vehicle controls disposed on the vehicle. Control modules of the system have processors, memory, and input/output (I/O) ports. The I/O ports communicate with the sensors and onboard vehicle controls. The control modules execute program code portions stored memory. The program code portions include first and second algorithm portions. The first algorithm portion receives data from the sensors and controls and determines that the data from the sensors and controls meets initialization threshold values. When the data from the sensors and controls meets the threshold values, the second algorithm portion generates a cabin leak detection output including: a first output, a second output, or a third output. The first output indicates a large leak, the second output indicates no leak, and the third output indicates that a small leak has been detected.

Abstract: A method for surveilling with a vehicle includes receiving an area-of-interest data from a vehicle user. The area-of-interest data delineates a virtual fence around the vehicle. The virtual fence is boundary of an area of interest around the vehicle. The vehicle is parked adjacent to an infrastructure. The method further includes receiving sensor data from a sensor of the vehicle that is monitoring the area of interest. Further, the method includes detecting a predetermined activity by a predetermined object of interest within the area of interest based on the sensor data received from the sensor of the vehicle. Also, the method includes notifying the vehicle user of the predetermined activity sensed using the sensor of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle psychomotor driving skill assessment system includes an on-board inputs group in a vehicle including physiological sensors. An on-board computer receives input from the on-board inputs group. The on-board computer accesses one or more algorithms from a memory to perform a skill test, evaluates skill test data, accesses stored skill test results from previous performed skill tests and saved average skill test results, and generates a current skill test result including a psychomotor ability assessment. A vehicle screen is provided. A skill test image generated by the on-board computer and a current user skill test result including the psychomotor ability assessment are presented on the vehicle screen to assist the user in performing the skill test. The current user skill test result assists the user in determining a user capability to operate the vehicle following the skill test.
