Abstract: A method of modifying a time to collision threshold includes receiving data and images of an object from image capturing devices and non-visual sensors within an automobile, from infrastructure cameras, and from image capturing devices within other automobiles, determining ambient light levels and color of the object, comparing ambient light levels to a pre-determined ambient light level threshold, determining a standard time to collision threshold, and sending the standard time to collision threshold to the collision avoidance system when ambient light levels are at least the pre-determined ambient light level, and, determining a standard time to collision threshold, a lighting coefficient, a color coefficient, applying the lighting and color coefficients to the standard time to collision threshold, calculating a modified time to collision threshold, sending the modified time to collision threshold to the collision avoidance system, when the ambient light levels are less than the pre-determined ambient light level threshold.

Abstract: An automated driving system (ADS) of an autonomous vehicle includes a communication module, a perception module, a misbehavior detection module, and a processor. The communication module is configured to receive a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) message comprising message-based vehicle data. The perception module configured to receive sensor data from at least one vehicle sensing device. The misbehavior detection module is configured to determine whether the V2V message is one of a legitimate message and a malicious message based at least in part on a comparison of the message-based vehicle data with sensor-based vehicle data generated based on the sensor data. The processor is configured to manage performance of the autonomous vehicle in accordance with the message-based vehicle data based on the determination. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

The observer vehicle determines that the operating condition does not satisfy a predetermined norm. The observer vehicle generates a message indicating the operating condition of the vehicle. The observer vehicle identifies a communication identifier of the vehicle. The observer vehicle sends the message to be received by the vehicle using the communication identifier via a vehicle to everything (V2X) communication module.

Abstract: A supplier network device is provided and includes a supplier processor and memory that stores a credential package including information for a chip or a vehicle control module (VCM). The supplier processor: receives ID and signature public keys from the chip, where the ID and signature public keys correspond respectively to private keys stored in the chip; transmit the ID and signature public keys to a certificate authority processor of a vehicle manufacturer data center; and receive the credential package including signing certificates from the certificate authority processor prior to assembling the VCM. The supplier processor: reads the ID public key from the VCM subsequent to incorporating the chip in the VCM; identifies the credential package based on the ID public key; and based on the identifying of the credential package, programs the VCM with the signing certificates prior to installation of the vehicle control module in a vehicle.

Abstract: A host vehicle includes an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger in fluid communication with the internal combustion engine, a communication system configured to transmit and receive a traffic-related message, and a controller in communication with the turbocharger and the communication system. The controller is programmed to: receive the traffic-related message via the communication system; and command the internal combustion engine to increase a power output to spool up the turbocharger in response to receiving the traffic-related message. The controller is programmed to determine a number of relevant vehicles. The number of relevant vehicles is a number of vehicles that are in front of the host vehicle and behind a traffic light and affect a movement of the host vehicle toward the traffic light. The traffic-related message is a one of a vehicle message from another vehicle and/or a traffic-light message from the traffic light.

Abstract: A side rear view camera is located at a driver or passenger side of the vehicle, captures video beside and behind the vehicle, and has a predetermined field of view (FOV).
