Abstract: Embodiments, systems, and techniques for vehicle operation assistance are provided herein. Vehicle operation assistance may be provided by monitoring characteristics of an occupant of a vehicle and determining an emergency status for the occupant based on characteristics of the occupant, transmitting a request for help based on the emergency status indicating the occupant of the vehicle is experiencing an emergency, receiving a “follow me” request from a potential leader vehicle, enabling follower mode such that vehicle is a follower vehicle and the potential leader vehicle is a leader vehicle, establishing a connection with the leader vehicle and receiving navigation instructions from the leader vehicle based on the vehicle being in follower mode, generating driving action commands based on navigation instructions, and executing respective driving action commands in an autonomous fashion based on the vehicle being in follower mode.

Abstract: The systems and methods are directed to a vehicle control system for use with: a vehicle communications network, at least one source of pedestrian data relevant to at least one pedestrian's location, and at least one source of vehicle system data relevant to the vehicle's location and movement. Abstract: A system for use in determining parking spot allocation. The system includes a host vehicle parked in a host parking spot. The host vehicle includes a transceiver configured for vehicle-to-vehicle communication, and a control unit configured to determine the host vehicle is ready to depart the host parking spot, receive, via the transceiver, a first signal from at least one client vehicle, wherein the first signal indicates the at least one client vehicle is searching for a parking spot, allocate the host parking spot to a first client vehicle of the at least one client vehicle; and transmit, via the transceiver, a second signal to the first client vehicle, wherein the second signal notifies the first client vehicle that the host parking spot has been allocated to the first client vehicle, and provides location data associated with the host parking spot to the first client vehicle.

The method yet further includes placing the system in a follower mode based on a selection of a leader vehicle from the one or more potential leader vehicles by establishing a connection with the potential leader vehicle. In follower mode the vehicle is a follower vehicle. The method additionally includes wirelessly receiving a navigation instruction from the leader vehicle. The method includes executing a driving maneuver in an autonomous fashion based on the navigation instruction from the leader vehicle.

Abstract: A merge behavior system assists a host vehicle positioned in a merge lane that is adjacent a mainline lane. The merge behavior system includes an identification module that identifies at least one proximate vehicle in the mainline lane, if present. The merge behavior system also includes a prediction module that selects one or more models based on the at least one proximate vehicle, calculates one or more merge factors corresponding to the one or more models, and predicts a merge location based on the one or more merge factors. The merge behavior system further includes a control module that adjusts a kinematic parameter of the host vehicle to bring the host vehicle within a merging distance of the predicted merge location. The merge behavior system includes a merge module that determines whether a gap at the predicted merge location is a sufficient size for the host vehicle.

Abstract: Systems and methods for reporting electrical infrastructure and vegetation twining are provided. In one embodiment, a system for reporting electrical infrastructure and vegetation twining is provided. The system includes a recognition module, a position module, a twining module, and a report module. The recognition module is configured to detect electrical infrastructure and vegetation in a set of sensor data received from vehicle sensors. The position module is configured to associate a location with the set of sensor data. The twining module is configured to identify a twining event of the vegetation and the electrical infrastructure based on a proximity threshold of the electrical infrastructure and the vegetation. The report module is configured to generate a report including the twining event and the location.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cooperative smart lane selection are described. According to one embodiment, a computer-implemented method for cooperative smart lane selection includes receiving vehicle data for a plurality of vehicles. Each vehicle in the plurality of vehicles is travelling along a road segment having a plurality of lanes. The road segment is parsed into a plurality of inter-lane zones including a buffer zone and an implementation zone downstream of the buffer zone. Each inter-lane zone includes the lanes of the plurality of lanes. The computer-implemented method includes integrating the vehicle data into the plurality inter-lane zones by lane of the plurality of lanes. The computer-implemented method also includes calculating flow factors for the lanes in the implementation zone. The computer-implemented method further includes selecting a lane from the plurality of lanes based on the flow factors and controlling a host vehicle based on the flow factors.
