    摘要： The deterioration of reinforced concrete structures by galvanic corrosion is a well understood problem, particularly as it affects roads, bridges, parking garages and buildings that use reinforcing steel in their construction. Galvanic cathodic protection is typically provided for such reinforced concrete structures using embedded sacrificial anodes, such as zinc, aluminum, and alloys thereof. Disclosed herein is an anode assembly (10) for cathodic protection of a reinforced concrete structure. The assembly comprises at least one sacrificial anode member (12). The anode member is covered with an ionically-conductive covering material (14) into which is bound an electrochemical activating agent at least partly covering the sacrificial anode member. One side (26) of the ionically-conductive covering material is configured to conform closely and securely to a steel reinforcing bar. The conforming side has a non-conductive barrier (16) as an integral part of the covering material. An electrical connection is established between the anode member and a ferrous reinforcing bar (20) using conductive wires (18).

The rotor is supported an inner rotor support that defines an inner cavity. A two-speed shifting mechanism is incorporated into the inner cavity and is used to drive an output. The two-speed shifting mechanism includes a gear assembly and first and second clutch assemblies that cooperate with each other to provide low and high speed output capability as needed.

    摘要： An oil containment boom is provided herein. It includes an elongated member of generally V-shaped cross-section, which is provided by a front wall section and a (preferably higher) rear wall section, joined together along respective lower edges. Ballast means are provided for normally maintaining the elongated member upright with the joint between the front and rear walls at the bottom. Float means (preferably inflatable) are provided, which are disposed between the front wall and the rear wall at a predetermined and preselected level above the joint. Drainage means are provided within the front wall to permit polluted liquid which has rolled over the front wall and is trapped in the V-shaped member constituted by the front and rear walls to escape therefrom to an area upstream of the front wall. A novel method of containing oil spills in ice infested water is also provided.

An actuator acts cooperatively with the hammer to urge the hammer to impact the baseplate assembly. A friction brake is actuated to impart a friction force to the hammer. The friction force restrains motion of the hammer until the brake is released. A method of generating a seismic signal comprises coupling a hammer to an actuator. The hammer is restrained from motion using a friction brake. The friction brake is released such that the actuator urges the hammer into contact with a baseplate assembly generating a seismic signal.

    摘要： A wheelchair has a seat, a reclining backrest and anti-tip legs movable between a retracted position and an extended ground contacting position in response to movement of the backrest between an upright and a reclining condition. The inclination of the backrest can be conveniently adjusted by a person seated in the wheelchair by latching a pair of detent arms in one of several slots spaced under the chair's armrests. The anti-tip legs extend to support the wheelchair against tipping backwards when the backrest is reclined and retract out of the way when the backrest is brought upright.
