A composite tissue formed in situ is provided. The composite tissue includes a synovial joint tissue; and a barrier material adhered thereto for sealing the synovial joint tissue against synovial fluid. Also provided is a method for regenerating synovial joint tissue in situ by excluding synovial fluid therefrom. The method includes providing a synovial joint tissue having a defect; and placing a barrier material in intimate contact with the defect for sealing the defect against synovial fluid. The barrier material includes a curable protein copolymer. The method further includes curing the protein copolymer in situ. The barrier material can include a crosslinked network, or a self gelled network of repeating elastin-like and fibroin-like polymer chains.

A dynamic stabilization construct for implantation within the spine comprises bone anchors that include a flexible portion between the bone engaging and head portions of the anchor. The head portion is configured to mate with different types of stabilization elements adapted to span between spinal motion segments. The engagement portion can also be configured for different types of fixation to a motion segment, such as within the pedicle of a vertebra. The flexible portion permits limited bending of the bone anchor beneath the level of the stabilization element. In one embodiment, the flexible portion is integrated into the body of the bone anchor in the form of hinge elements. In another embodiment, a separate flexible element, such as a spacer or spring, is interposed between the head and engagement portions. In a further embodiment, the bone anchor includes a portion having a reduced cross-section. The flexible bone anchors may be used to tailor the dynamic flexibility of spinal stabilization instrumentation at each level of the construct.

The present disclosure relates to memory arrays with read reference voltage cells. In particular the present disclosure relates to variable resistive memory cell apparatus and arrays that include a high resistance state reference memory cell and a low resistance state reference memory cell that provides a reliable average reference voltage on chip to compare to a read voltage of a selected memory cell and determine if the selected memory cell is in the high resistance state or low resistance state. These memory arrays are particularly suitable for use with spin-transfer torque memory cells and resolves many systematic issues related to generation of a reliable reference voltage.

The doped layer is trenched (117) so that adjacent electrodes in the doped layer are electrically isolated from one another so that one of the electrodes in the doped layer (114a) can be connected with a different electrical polarity to the other electrode in the doped layer (114b) thereby permitting the connection of the pairs of electrodes in parallel anti-phase mode.
