摘要: A method, for use for example in pension scheme defeasance, comprises providing to an entity a financial instrument which undertakes to pay to the entity, at regular points in time within a specified duration, sums according to a schedule of payment amounts associated with the financial instrument, the scheduled payment amounts being arranged to match with the expected cash flow obligations of a pension scheme to its members. At a re-set point in time the schedule of payment amounts is re-set such that the entity will receive an adjusted payment amount calculated to be the aggregate of nominal cash flows to be paid to the pension scheme members adjusted to take into account the actual cumulative mortality experience of the pension scheme prior to the re-set point in time. Calculations for carrying out the method may be made using a data processing system.

摘要: The radiation beam of discrete light source such as LEDs is shaped by a cylindrical lens and a spherical lens to form two perpendicular narrow lines to illuminate a surface. The first line is projected onto a sample surface to improve illumination efficiency, and the second line is projected onto a pupil plane of an imaging lens to improve illumination uniformity. The layout of the LED chip is optimized to match the aspect ratio of the imaging detector. Multiple LEDs at different wavelengths are combined to improve sensitivity. The full surface of the sample is inspected through the relative motion between the sample and the optics.

摘要: Automatic optical inspection (AOI) systems are described comprising optical modules that include an illumination component and a lens array configured to direct illumination of the illumination component at a portion of a substrate. The lens array includes a Fresnel lens. The optical module includes a camera that receives reflected light resulting from an interaction of the illumination and the substrate. The camera includes a time delay integration (TDI) sensor. A telecentric imaging lens directs reflected light from the substrate to the camera. The illumination component comprises a controller coupled to multiple LED light sources, each emitting light at a different wavelength. The controller independently controls each LED light source. The illumination component includes a bright field and/or a dark field light source. The illumination component can include a front side and/or a back side light source. An optical fiber is coupled to the camera and an image processor.

摘要: A ball-and-socket joint assembly includes a stationary object, a movable object, and a mounting apparatus. The mounting apparatus has first and second rigid link sections, each link section having an upper socket section and a lower socket section, so that an upper receiving space is defined by the two upper socket sections and a lower receiving space is defined by the two lower socket sections. The assembly further includes an upper coupler having an upper ball that is received for rotation inside the upper receiving space, with the movable object secured to the upper coupler, and a lower coupler having a lower ball that is received for rotation inside the lower receiving space, with the stationary object secured to the lower coupler. A link member secures the link sections together with the upper ball retained inside the upper receiving space, and with the lower ball retained inside the lower receiving space.

摘要: A differential bus network, in general, or a controller area network (CAN) driver, in particular, controls and minimizes the variation on the common-mode signal of the CAN bus. This CAN driver also provides improved symmetry between its differential output signals, CANH and CANL, and provides protection for its low voltage devices from voltage transients occurring on its output lines. The common-mode signal is sensed and buffered, then during the dominant to recessive transition, the bus signals are shorted to the buffered common mode voltage. Specifically, additional switches or transistors are used to pull the differential output signals, CANH and CANL, to the common mode signal VCM when the state of the CAN bus transitions from dominant to recessive. This improvement minimizes high frequency spikes in the common-mode signal and eliminates DC shifts during transitions of the state of the CAN bus. A driver system may include a plurality of CAN drivers are serially interconnected to form a driver system, wherein each downstream driver stage receives a time-delayed form of the digital input signal TxD, each stage providing a time-delayed contribution to the differential output signals of the overall driver system.
