    摘要: A direct injection fuel supply system, in one exemplary implementation, includes a lift fuel pump, a positive displacement pump, at least one fuel injector and an accumulator assembly. The lift pump is adapted to be in fluid communication with a supply of fuel and the positive displacement pump is in fluid communication with and downstream of the lift pump. The at least one injector is in fluid communication with an outlet of the positive displacement pump via a high pressure fuel line. The accumulator assembly includes an accumulator and a valve, where the valve is in direct fluid communication with the high pressure fuel line and the injector. The valve is selectively controlled to at least one of an open state providing fluid communication between the accumulator and the high pressure fuel line and a closed state blocking fluid communication between the accumulator and the high pressure fuel line.

    摘要: A reciprocating piston-type internal combustion engine includes an engine cylinder, an intake port, an intake runner providing a passage through which intake gas enters the cylinder through the intake port, an intake valve for opening and closing the intake port, and a first flap located in the intake runner upstream from the intake valve, arranged in series with the intake valve, and having first and second positional states that vary during each engine cycle. The first state opens the intake runner passage to permit intake gas to enter the cylinder through the intake port. The second state at least partially closes the intake runner passage to control the flow of gas exiting or entering the cylinder through the intake port.

The capacitors are connected in a balanced bridge circuit and the second capacitor is constructed to remove gas entrapped in the lubricant present in the second capacitor so that the bridge becomes unbalanced indicating gas entrapped in the lubricant flowing through the first capacitor.

    摘要: An apparatus for deactivating an engine valve has an accumulator sleeve slidably retained in an engine block and biased toward a lower chamber in fluid communication with an interior of the sleeve. A follower piston slides in the sleeve in contact with a lobe of a can. An upper piston slides in an upper chamber in contact with a pushrod. A fluid passage connects the lower chamber and the upper chamber. A normally open spool valve in the fluid passage includes a control spool for opening and closing the passage. Another passage connects the lower chamber and one end of the control spool. A spring chamber provides fluid to an opposite end of the control spool through a control valve from a source of pressurized fluid.

    摘要: A high pressure fuel system includes a combination bypass and safety pressure release valve across the high pressure fuel pump. The combination valve allows the feed pump to directly provide fuel to the system before the high pressure pump reaches full output pressure. The valve also releases overpressure in the system when the high pressure pump is deadheaded. The combination valve includes a check ball which allows fuel to flow from its input to its output when the pressure is greater at its input than at its output.
