    摘要: An information processing system and method are adapted to swiftly record a program matched to preference information. A user apparatus registers generated preference information, together with information representative of destinations for its preference information, to a server through a network. The server, when registered with the preference information, notifies another user apparatus as a destination of the preference information. The video recording/reproducing unit of the another user apparatus accesses the server through the network and designates preference information desired for scheduling of recording. The server sends the designated preference information to the video recording/reproducing unit through the network. The video recording/reproducing unit receives the preference information and carries out scheduling for recording on the basis of the preference information. The invention is applicable to a hard-disk video recorder.

    摘要: To make it possible to reserve recording of a program without imposing a large load on a user. A server 2-1 transmits program attribute information to a video recording and reproducing apparatus 11 via a network 1. The program attribute information is constituted by program attribute names and program attribute retrieval conditions. The video recording and reproducing apparatus 11 causes a display apparatus 12 to display a list of the program attribute names. The user selects a program attribute name, to which a program that the user wishes to reserve for recording seems to be most closely related, out of this list. The video recording and reproducing apparatus 11 compares retrieval conditions corresponding to the selected program attribute name and EPG information and, when the retrieval conditions are satisfied, records a program represented by the EPG in a recording reservation list. It is possible to apply the invention to a hard disk video recorder.

    摘要: Locking claw engages a recording medium to be transferred, and a determination is made as to which of a plurality of predetermined points a current position of the locking member corresponds to. Current position of the recording medium can be determined indirectly on the basis of the thus-determined predetermined point corresponding to the current position of the locking member. If any recording medium is not properly settled in a predetermined rest position at power-ON, then the recording medium is automatically transferred to be settled in the predetermined rest position. Simplified detection of the position of the locking claw is made in absolute or quasi-absolute form, by a picker position detector unit that is provided in association with a rotating drive shaft of the locking member and employs a simply-constructed mechanism capable of generating detection pulses responsive to predetermined rotational angles of two shafts rotating at different rates. Each of the plurality of predetermined points defined for the locking claw can be identified in absolute or quasi-absolute form on the basis of a combination of patterns of the thus-generated pulses. Thus, in feed transfer of a recording medium, such as a DVD medium, the position of the medium can be detected in a simplified manner and can be automatically controlled to be properly settled in the predetermined position upon power-ON.

    摘要: An ingot is made from a used target of 30 weight % or more, and new metals of the same components, and recycled alloy powder is made by a gas atomizing process. Magnetic permeability is controlled not to exceed 2 by adjusting the content of rare earth metals in rare earth alloy powder to be at least 35 weight %. By blending the recycled alloy powder with other powder to produce alloy powder containing at least 50 weight % of rare earth alloy powder having a magnetic permeability not higher than 2 and containing at least 65 weight % of rare earth alloy powder. By sintering the alloy powder under pressure and thereafter cutting top, bottom and side surfaces of the sintered material, a target having a magnetic permeability not higher than 2 and having a thickness not less than 8 mm is fabricated.
